Acting out: An area resident said his father spit in his grandmother's face and bit her finger and then threatened to kill them both, Jan. 13. He he intervened and took his father to Steubenville, where he left him at a lounge and told him not to come back to the house but he managed to get a ride back "and was demanding to be let back in." He said his father had been "screaming and yelling all day" and advised he'd been binging drugs for three or four days. He said his grandmother tried to slap his father when he spit in her face but he grabbed her hand and bit her finger, and said he threatened to "assault her and kill her numerous times." Deputies were called back to the residence after the man's father sent them messages blaming whatever he might do on them. Grandma said he "threatened to assault and kill her numerous times and she cannot live like this anymore" and both of them said they're living in fear and would press charges, but when deputies checked back grandma said he'd returned to the house to get his things the next day after he sobered up so they'd decided not to pursue charges against him. Deputies told her they could file domestic violence charges without their input.
Won't stop: An Empire family said a man who allegedly threatened his neighbors and insisted they put their dog in the house returned after deputies left and parked across the street, "staring out the window at (their) house.)" The dog's owner said the man parked his truck across the street after sending their son a text to the effect that he was going to "give them $100 and take the dog back" and if they didn't like it, "then we'll have a problem when I get there tonight." They also reported the neighbor had called the humane officer who concluded, as deputies had the first time they went to the property, that the dog was in a well-insulated house with plenty of straw and tarps covering the openings and was well cared for and not neglected and it wouldn't be in his jurisdiction, anyway, since it was within village limits. He told deputies he doesn't agree, nor does he like the dog being outside and told deputies he wasn't concerned that the homeowners had video of him allegedly behaving menacingly because "it's only a misdemeanor." He also insisted the message he sent to their son wasn't threatening.
