Aggressive dog: A Rayland resident said her husband had taken their "little dog" out behind their house on its leash when a neighbor's Rottweiller "came down off the hill and attacked (them) and when she tried to get it off them with a broom it turned on her, Thursday. The wife was knocked down while the dog knocked her husband's glasses off and bit his hand, possibly requiring stitches, deputies said. The wife was taken to a Wheeling hospital for evaluation, but her husband declined immediate treatment in lieu of getting his own dog to an emergency vet.

Having fun: Deputies spotted a vehicle pulled off of county Road 43 and checked on the well-being of the occupants, Thursday. They said all was well and the occupants "were involved in extracurricular activities."

First impressions: A Bergholz resident said a man was "on her front porch flipping out in a possible drug-induced psychotic state," Wednesday. She said he wasn't wearing shoes and wasn't making any sense. Deputies said they located the man, who "advised he was looking for someone."

Fast tracked: A caller reported a man "walking up and down Highland Street in Rayland screaming something," Wednesday. She said he "turned down the main drag" and believed he was circling the block, but deputies were unable to locate him.

Steubenville Police

Charged: Callers were concerned with the safety of a woman in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue after hearing a confrontation between her and a male, Wednesday. Police and JMHA Security located the woman inside the apartment and said she had markings on her throat from the altercation. Police said the male, identified as Frank Wilson, 54, no fixed address, was in the apartment showering, putting him in violation of a protection order barring him from contact with her. Wilson, who also had a mark on him from the altercation, was removed from the property and charged with assault as well as violating the court order.

Just go: A man who refused to leave an apartment in the 400 block of South Fifth Street departed after police advised him it was in his best interest, Wednesday. The female tenant had told police he'd ignored her requests that he go. He's now been banned from all JMHA properties in the South End, police said.

Charged: Lisa M. Flanagan, 53, 16684 State Route 152, Toronto, misdemeanor theft, Wednesday. Walmart employees claim they saw Flanagan "price-switch" merchandise, police said.

Cited: Gregory P. Case, 40, Grandview Avenue, Mingo Junction, expired license and failure to yield after a two car collision Wednesday at the Lincoln Avenue off ramp and South Fourth Street; Zepherin M. Swope, 35, 200 Wilma Ave., Steubenville, and Emma Settle, 20, 2407 Alexander Manor West, Steubenville, both for speeding; Danielle Thomas, 36, 369 township Road 227, Richmond, driving under suspension.
