Control issues: A driver was cited after she got her car stuck on boulders and bushes in the center of the Franciscan University of Steubenville's roundabout, Monday. Andrea Shelly, 21, 7133 Millbury Court, was cited for operating a motor vehicle on a temporary permit, police said. Shelly told police she was parked east of the roundabout when she tried to put the vehicle in drive it slipped into reverse instead, and when she hit the brake they failed and her car "rolled down the hill into the center of the roundabout."

Squatting: David B. Ryan Jr., 55, Vero Beach, Fla., criminal trespass, Monday. Police said they saw Ryan approaching a vacant structure carrying grocery bags and approaching a vacant structure, and when they checked the building discovered him standing at the top of a stairwell and a mattress, food clothing and personal items in the attic area.

Chain reaction: Two drivers were cited after a four-car chain reaction accident in the left-turning lane at the intersection of state Route 7 and University Boulevard, Monday. Justin Ankrom, 39, Waynesburg, Pa., was cited by city police for driving under suspension and Blake Thompson, 42, 221 Harvard Ave., Steubenville, for assured clear distance ahead. Police report Thompson told them he didn't see traffic was stopped at the light and failed to brake, rear-ending Ankrom's car and propelling it into the back of the car in front of him. That car then was pushed into the rear of a fourth car. They said Ankrom's and Thompson's cars had to be towed from the scene.

No return: The manager of a truck rental business reported someone rented a U-Haul truck more than a month ago and hasn't returned it, Monday. He said they have a copy of her drivers license but haven't been able to reach her.

Heave-ho: A city resident was cited after she allegedly threw her "significant other's" belongings out a window at her residence in the 700 block of Rosswell Avenue, Sunday. Police said Jasmine Wilson, 25, 744 Rosswell Ave., was cited for obstructing the sidewalk and littering after she told them the man hadn't been there that day and she'd put his things outside to give him "the chance to take his belongings from her front yard before she threw them away." Police said there was "a large pile of debris (that) completely covered the sidewalk in front of her residence" and they also found "a large pile of broken glass in the roadway which came as a result of items being thrown outside."

Vehicles damaged: Someone tried to break into two vehicles in the 700 block of Oakmont Avenue, Saturday. Police said the damage suggested someone tried to force the lock on the drivers' doors.

Booked: John D. Ranaudio, 48, 603 Main St. rear, Wintersville, warrant for domestic violence, Sunday.
