Huffing and puffing: Deputies were sent to a Knox Township location after dispatchers lost contact with a person whom who’d dialed 9-1-1, Saturday. The female eventually came to the door and said she’d been “arguing with a heroin addict who’d been huffing butane” but he left on foot before deputies arrived, then she said “they weren’t arguing, she was just scared because he collapsed.”
Questions: A man living on county Road 19, Mingo Junction, complained that Ascent pilot cars and trucks were “speeding and running oversized loads in front of his home (at) all hours of the day and night.” He said it’s been an ongoing problem for a few months.
Fool’s parade: A heavy set male in a dark sedan with only one headlight allegedly pulled a handgun on another driver in a road range incident in the northbound lane of state Route 7 just north of Brilliant, Saturday.
Taking aim: A Richmond-area resident said two juveniles “were throwing eggs and chunks of asphalt at his house and car,” Sunday. He said the boys appear to be around 6 or 7 years old and he’s had problems with the family because their mother thinks he reported her to the humane society for animal abuse. Deputies made contact with the juveniles and their mother by phone and reviewed camera footage, reporting they didn’t see anything strike the neighbor’s home or vehicle.
Tools of the trade: Workers cleaning out a storage unit after the owner failed to pay his bill told deputies they found what they believed to be drugs inside, Sunday. Deputies seized six 7-gram bags of a brown powdery substance, a bag containing a crystallized substance, a spoon, sandwich bags, a respirator mask, a box of latex gloves, a pill press and an air freshener, as well as a hotel key and a book bag.
Homeless problem: Callers reported seeing a man in a red hoodie looking in car windows on Summit Avenue, Mingo Junction, Saturday. Deputies located the male, who told them he is currently homeless, “bouncing around from house-to-house.” He said he had “nowhere to go and was just walking around Mingo” and denied looking into car windows. The shelter had no beds available, so a deputy transported him to a family member’s home while others checked to make sure he hadn’t entered any vehicles.
Time to trade: A caller reported her boyfriend was causing a disturbance at a Toronto-area residence, Monday. A woman who lived in the residence said she’d taken one of her kids to a friend’s house and when got home, found out her kids had locked her boyfriend in the basement. He told deputies he’s been vomiting and thinks the kids tried to poison his coffee, but they said his cup didn’t smell like cleaner or bleach. Her kids said he’d followed them outside and “started a confrontation,” and when they came inside he followed them in and accused them of putting something in his coffee so they “locked him in the basement where he couldn’t get out.” The boyfriend refused treatment. Deputies had to return to the location an hour later after he started causing problems again, this time “calling his uncle a name.” Nothing physical occurred and all involved were told to separate,
Grandmother’s house: A Wintersville woman said her child’s paternal grandmother entered her home without permission and assaulted her, Sunday. She said the 9-year-old had been at his grandmother’s, but she found out grandma had left him home alone a couple hours after she picked him up so she could go to a bar. The Wintersville woman said grandma was “clearly intoxicated” when she called to check on her whereabouts so she told her she’d pick him up, but grandma denied she was drunk and pulled up at her apartment minutes later. She said when she opened her door the older woman charged her, so she pushed her outside her home where “the fight continued” and after she told her child to go in the house his grandma drove off “while still screaming” at her.
Steubenville Police
Drugs: Police were called to a Ross Street location to assist with a combative female who had overdosed, Sunday. Steubenville firefighters said she was unresponsive until she made it to the hospital and was “still not alert and unable to speak.” Hospital personnel said she was going to be transferred to a Pittsburgh hospital.
Booked: Jason Hearn, 45, 3825 Main St., Weirton, failure to appear (driving under suspension), Sunday.
