Steubenville Police
Stonewalled: A man in the 400 block of Lawson Avenue was bleeding from his neck, Monday. Police said the man was laying on a porch and "had a cut wound to the left side of his neck and two stab wounds to his upper back," but he wasn't willing to cooperate with the investigation.
Bloody trace: Police were told a man was lying in the roadway in the area of Ross Street and North Seventh Street, but when they got to the location bystanders said family members had already picked him up and left. Police said there was blood spatter in the road but could get no further information.
Slashed: A Hillary Square resident with about a 2-inch gash in his left forearm told police his wife did it while "under the influence of something," Monday. He said he and his wife are separated but they "see each other every few days and ...he is attempting to work on his marriage with her." He said she's known to use methamphetamine, and when she came to the house, she started arguing with him, "then pulled out a foldable straight razor and began to swing (it) in his direction." He said he tried to get out of the way of the knife but did not move fast enough. He told police he just wants her to "enter some kind of treatment program" but said she fled the house on foot. Police looked but were unable to locate her. They said the laceration appeared to be through the muscle to the bone.
Drug induced: An officer on patrol in the 200 block of Adams Street said he "could hear a male yelling "help me" and screaming, Monday. They found him in the 100 block of South Third Street and said he appeared "extremely nervous and paranoid, constantly looking behind him and thinking something was following him" and, despite temperatures in the low 30s, was "profusely sweating." Police said when they asked him where he was coming from "he said he did not know and began running" in the street, walked back toward them then started running again.
Drugs: A city resident was booked into the county jail after he allegedly was found unresponsive in a truck in the 200 block of North Third Street, Sunday. Police report they had difficulty waking Jared Joynson, 26, no fixed address, and once he became conscious "he was very argumentative" but allowed them to search his vehicle, allegedly finding a pipe and a bag containing a clear crystal substance believed to contain methamphetamine and fentanyl. Due to his drowsy condition, police took Johnson to the hospital to be medically treated first before transporting him to the jail where he was held for felony drug possession.
Booked: A city resident suspected in four thefts was taken into custody, Sunday. Police said they found Aaron P. Fisher, 36, 619 Grandview Ave., Steubenville, hiding behind a van in the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue and took him into custody on four warrants alleging petit theft -- two from municipal court and two from Toronto county court--as well as a probation violation. Fisher also was charged with possession of drugs after a corrections officer at the jail allegedly found a bag believed to contain fentanyl tucked in his navel.
Two booked: A driver was cited and served with an outstanding warrant and his passenger was taken into custody on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop on South Street at Fourth Street, Saturday. Police said the driver, Dakota Egnew, no fixed address, was cited for driving under suspension and a headlight violation and booked into the county jail for failure to appear. His passenger, Shari Trexler, 50, 128 Reichart Ave., Steubenville, was booked into the jail on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and conveyance. Police said they'd found a bag containing a white rock-like substance believed to be cocaine base on the floorboard where Trexler had been seated and a scale with residue in the glove box, and said she also told them she had pipes and baggies with a white powder residue in her bra.
Wrong place, wrong time: Two people were charged after police reported finding them in an abandoned residence in the 700 block of North Fifth Street, Monday. Police said Deysen Lasure, 24, no fixed address, and Kristi Davis, 27, no fixed address, were each charged with criminal trespass.
Safe landing: A caller reported concrete falling from the westbound overpass and landing in the roadway on Washington Street hill, Monday. Police cleared the debris from the roadway and notified the city engineer.
Skimmed: A Market Street resident said $1,700 was withdrawn from his bank account without his knowledge, Monday. He said the thefts began in mid-December and were centered at two downtown ATMs.
Money bagged: A North Fifth Street resident said $200 turned up missing from her daughter's room after she refused to loan a friend money, Monday. Police explained that without additional evidence they couldn't prove theft and advised her to stay away from the friend and not lend out any more money.
Not talking: A caller reported hearing yelling and glass breaking from a residence in the 500 block of Railroad Avenue, Monday. Police spoke to the resident who said he did not want a report on file nor did he want police assistance.
Disturbance: Callers reported a disturbance in the 400 block of Madison Avenue, Sunday. A man leaving the building said a woman who had run out of the residence was being chased by a male, and another man said there hadn't been a problem in their building, but she was possibly being assaulted by her boyfriend at an apartment downtown. While they were talking to the second man police spotted a woman walking in the alleyway and identified her as the woman in question. She said she had not been assaulted and denied needing help.
