In custody: Two men at a Pennsylvania Avenue residence were taken into custody as fugitives from justice, including one who police found hiding in his attic, Wednesday. Police said Sean E. Miller, 31, 1333 Pennsylvania Ave., was booked into the county jail for alleged parole violations in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. They said one of his roommates told police she hadn't seen him in three months and two others denied he was in the building. After they gave police permission to search the property, officers reported seeing "an attic access panel that was open and observed what appeared to be fresh pieces of insulation from the attic on the floor of the closet." When they told the woman they believed someone was in the attic, she admitted it was Miller and they ordered him out. Police also arrested Corey L. Sexton, 30, also of 1333 Pennsylvania Ave., on a warrant out of Washington County, Pa., alleging parole violations.
Found: Police found a man laying on the ground between two vehicles in the Thrifty car lot, Wednesday. They said the man "advised us that he had been drinking and fell down." Steubenville firefighters transported him to the hospital.
Charged: A city resident is facing multiple charges after she allegedly was driving under the influence of alcohol with a young child in her vehicle, Wednesday. Aaliyah Barnhart, 25, was booked into the Jefferson County jail on charges of child endangerment and operating a vehicle under the influence. She also was cited for driving under suspension and a marked lanes violation. Police reported Barnhart was sitting in the oncoming lane of traffic waiting for the light at Belleview and Sunset boulevards to turn green and when they pulled her over, "immediately noticed ... (her) speech to be slurred" and said she repeated the same sentence several times.
Cashed out: The owner of a city business said someone cashed a check for $2,438 drawn on his business account but "he did not write the check nor did he authorize anyone to write the check."
Timely find: A woman said someone stole a letter from her post office box, Wednesday. She said the letter that was taken the day before contained a $5,000 check a family member had sent her.
Wanted out: Sunset Boulevard residents causing a disturbance told police they "were just arguing," Tuesday. The female said she wanted to leave the residence and the male "refused to drive her," so after she gathered some belongings police gave her a ride.
Charged: Sarah M. Green, 33, 732 N. Sixth St., Apt. 4, Steubenville, possession of drug paraphernalia, Tuesday. Police allegedly found methamphetamine pipes and two plastic bags with residue in her possession.
Foiled: An Oakmont Avenue resident said he had video of two males trying to break into his vehicle, Tuesday. He scared the pair away by hitting the panic button on his keys, police said.
Hanging out: A breaking and entering was reported at a Reserve Avenue property, Wednesday. The resident told police she had been away for several weeks and discovered the damage when she returned to find the front door unlocked and the back door kicked in. Nothing appeared to be missing but she told police there were bottles and alcohol in the kitchen that weren't hers.
Change of mind: A South Fifth Street resident said an individual who came to his residence to pick up items he'd left there was refusing to leave, Tuesday. He fled before officers arrived, leaving his belongings behind.
Charged: Employees at Wal-Mart said a man pushed a 65-inch LG TV out of the store without paying for it, Tuesday. Police said Douglas G. Pridemore, 54, of Youngstown was stopped in the parking lot and charged with misdemeanor theft. The TV was valued at $460.
Toned it down: Several callers complained of loud voices and loud music at a Dresden Avenue location, Tuesday. Police said when they arrived on scene, they heard neither. Residents said the male involved had fled prior to their revival.
Reported: A police officer reported hearing three quick gunshots in the area around Braybarton Boulevard, Tuesday. Witnesses said they also heard the shots and believed they'd been fired in the vicinity of Opal and Wilma boulevards. Police said they made multiple passes through the area but found no evidence of wrongdoing.
Drugs: An apparent overdose was reported in the 100 block of North Sixth Street, Tuesday. Police said the male was on the floor and semi-responsive when they arrived and was revived after Steubenville firefighters administered Naloxone. He was issued a drug treatment form and transported to the hospital for further treatment.
