Charged: Kristie D. Bottegal, 37, 78 Marshall St., Wellsburg, multiple counts of animal cruelty, Monday, for allegedly keeping four underweight dogs in unclean housing.
Weirton Police
Kenneth Bartley, 200 South 17th St., Weirton, fugitive from justice, Monday, individual arrested on a warrant from Ohio.
Steubenville Police
Know when to stop: A woman police said was "very intoxicated" and who had minor bruises and abrasions to her eye brow claimed she was attacked Monday. She said she'd been there drinking earlier in the day and left, and when she returned later with more money she "was attempting to share a drink with a group of females ... (when) she was suddenly attacked." Police said she had trouble keeping her details straight, at one point saying she didn't know the woman and then later saying she did, only to revert back to not knowing their names and said she tried to "fight them all" and even threatened to come back with her dog to attack the other women. Police said while speaking with her she was "yelling obscenities and racial slurs" and insisted she wanted to file charges. The owner of the club confirmed she had been drinking heavily throughout the day and at one point left, only to return. He said she was belligerent and argumentative with the other women, using slurs, and they engaged in a shoving and yelling match. He told police when he tried to separate them the woman who'd been drinking all day began yelling at him "and even went as far as to make an effort to fight with him."
Angry ex: A man visiting a residence in the 400 block of South Fifth Street said two of his tires were slashed, Tuesday. He thinks the ex-husband of the woman he's seeing is responsible. The woman also figures it was her ex, telling police he was intoxicated and "came by and was upset that she was seeing (someone else)" and threatened to damage her boyfriend's car.
Drugs: Police found an unresponsive woman in a side yard in the 1300 block of Oak Grove Avenue (rear), Monday. They said her hands were dark purple from the loss of blood flow and she was holding a glass pipe, and when they moved it she became responsive. Police said they found a needle, pipes, push rods and a container with a crystalline substance inside believed to be methamphetamine and a small bag with white rocks inside believed to be cocaine base. She was issued a drug treatment form.
Stolen: Scrap metal was stolen from a parking lot in the 800 block of North Seventh Street, Monday. The owner said he saw a white Ford Ranger parked in the lot and a male loading metal into the bed. When he told him the items belonged to him he said the male jumped in the truck and sped away.
Hanging on: A Cedar Avenue resident said her ex tried to gain entry to her home through the back door, Monday. She told police she used to have a relationship with him but had cut her ties and doesn't want him on her property. Police told him he needed to leave.
Theft: A Railroad Avenue resident said 200 feet of rebar, a window air conditioner, four metal fence posts and a motorcycle lift were stolen from his property, Tuesday. He said the items were outside his garage but he had security footage of the perpetrators.
Bagged it: Employees at Wal-Mart said a male shoplifter has been hitting the store on a regular basis, Tuesday. They said he walks into the store emptyhanded, grabs a backpack and fills it up before leaving the store without paying. Video footage of the man, who has been identified, shows him stealing seven items Feb. 20 worth $139, and three items two days later valued at $72.
Hit and skipped: A Lincoln Avenue resident said he was walking back from a store when someone struck him in the face, Tuesday. Police said he had a laceration between his eyebrows, and said he told them he thinks his assailant used a pipe or pole.
Reported: A caller reported hearing "what sounded like a gunshot or possibly a (car) backfiring" in the vicinity of McDowell and Ridge avenues, Tuesday. Police said they checked the area and found no evidence of shots being fired.
Drugs: An apparent overdose was reported in the 500 block of Linden Avenue, Sunday. Police located the body of a female. Four hypodermic needles and two crack pipes were seized.
Fussing and fighting: A possible domestic was reported in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Monday. Police said a male told them he was arguing with his girlfriend over giving his friend money but denied a physical altercation, though he also said during the argument "his friend punched him in the face to settle everyone down." He didn't want to pursue charges and the female denied an altercation. Police told them to separate.
Vindictive: A South Third Street man said his ex-girlfriend took his EBT card and his disability card and won't return them, Sunday.
Summons issued: Brandi DiEdwards, 35, 4097 Stratford Blvd., Steubenville, warrant for petit theft, Tuesday; Joseph Satathite, 35, 484 Sheeprock Road, Mingo Junction, failure to appear, Tuesday; Lucas Hunter, 32, 1333 Ridge Ave., Steubenville, misdemeanor theft.
