Rules don't apply: Witnesses told deputies they saw a man driving an older white Chevy Silverado single cab pickup back up over a stop sign twice at the intersection of township Roads 204 and 217, then a passenger climbed out of the cab and threw it in the bed of the truck before they took off at a high rate of speed down township Road 217, "yelling obscenities from the vehicle as it fled the area." They said several people in the area are upset that the township put the stop signs up and someone had knocked that particular one down the day before.
Outer limits: A Bloomingdale resident told deputies "strange things" have been happening on her property, Monday. She said she's found mud smeared on the back window of her vehicle and coffee was poured on the side of her home. Most recently, she said her daughter was home and heard the sliding door open and assumed it was her mother, until her mother really did return home and entered the house.
Prey: A Bloomingdale man said he's having problems with his neighbor's dog attacking his chickens, Monday. The information was relayed to the dog warden.
Dispute: A Toronto-area resident said she and her fiance were threatened, Monday. She said they're purchasing a shed and had called several times about problems with it, and the owner said he was "going to come pick up the shed and not finish the sale." She said when her fiance advised the man he has a large dog on the property the man "then stated he would show up and introduce them to his AK47."
Causing problems: A Wintersville woman said her neighbor left tire marks in her driveway, Monday. She said she came home and found a car in her driveway and said the neighbor complained about her dogs barking, and when he left "sped out of the driveway, leaving marks and flinging gravel."
Irate: A Rayland woman said her fiance took a car and she wanted it back, Monday. She said he'd also done something to their bank accounts "but she wasn't worried about that, she only wanted their car back" and wanted deputies to do something about it. They said she was upset when she found out that since his name was also on the title, legally there was nothing they could do. She became even more upset after she asked them to impound the vehicle and found out they couldn't because he has a valid license. She reached tipping point when she asked them what recourse she had and they suggested she find an attorney (and) get one of their names taken off the title."
Dog problem: A woman trying to help a dog that had been hit by a car in Dillonvale said she had been bitten when several other dogs converged on her, Saturday. Bystanders said six dogs that had escaped their owner's yard were running loose and behaving aggressively with residents. Deputies said another woman was corralling the last dog when they arrived but three she'd managed to get back inside the fenced-in back yard were "barking aggressively, trying to get to (them)." They said the dogs had escaped through wooden doors to the garage that were left open in back, and said surveillance footage showed they'd been on the loose since the night before. The dog warden cited the owner, Christina Wise, into Dillonvale county court for the dogs running loose and all were quarantined until he can determine which dog bit the woman.
Hiding out: A man broke into a shed on a Solter Road, Wintersville, property and sat in a recliner, burning pages of a book in an old coffee can to stay warm, Saturday. An empty pack of cigarettes on a chair next to the recliner matched the brand used by an individual who'd fled police recently.
Road rage: A Tiltonsville man said he was thrown to the ground after arguing with another man at the wheel of a dark-colored Nissan Maxima in the 200 block of Mound Street, Saturday.
In too deep: Callers reported a truck stuck between a house and the cemetery in Mount Pleasant, Monday. Deputies said it appeared to be stuck in the mud and said the bed of the truck was filled with cut logs and a chainsaw was in the backseat. They tracked down the owner who said he was trying to get it out but couldn't and would need to return with a tractor to pull it out. He was advised to wait until daylight because neighbors were concerned.
Steubenville Police
Teething problem: A Ridge Avenue resident said her daughter bit her arm and hit her in the face during an argument, Monday. The daughter fled before they arrived, but police said her face was red and she had an apparent bite mark on her forearm. She told police she wants to pursue charges.
Bathroom issues: Employees at Kroger said a couple entered the family restroom together and hadn't come out after at least 30 minutes, Monday. They claimed the woman had a large purse and "was carrying merchandise that had been passed to her by the male." While they were talking to the employee, officers said the pair emerged from the restroom and denied stealing anything and told police they could search them. They didn't find anything in her bag but employees checked the restroom and found packaging for several items that police allegedly found in the woman's bag. Camile N. Beane, 31, 408 North Fifth St., Steubenville, was charged with petty theft, police said.
Problematic: A driver said she was eastbound on Sinclair Avenue when a dark-colored van overtook her and "began to drive recklessly and flash their high beams at her," Monday. She said she pulled off the road near Circle K and when she got out, the other vehicle "sped up and went around her." She said as the van passed the driver, described as a heavy-set female in her 40s with dark hair, pointed a handgun at her and her passenger before speeding away. She said there was a small juvenile in the van, which had numerous bumper stickers on the rear hatch.
Too loud: A resident in the 600 block of Lovers Lane said a neighbor was playing loud music and refused to turn the volume down, Monday. Police said they could hear the music coming through the door and someone walking around, but the occupant "refused to open the door or acknowledge (their) presence." Police said they'll follow up with the landlord.
Bothered: A Belleview Boulevard resident said she's being harassed on social media by a male she doesn't know, Monday. She showed police e-mails she'd received from a man throughout 2022 and said "ghost profiles" are now attempting to follow her on Tik-Tok and Facebook.
Phantom call: A woman in the 800 block of Rosswell Avenue called 911 and hung up after advising she was being assaulted by a male, Monday. Police checked surrounding areas but were unable to locate the caller or anyone who'd heard a disturbance.
Rocking it: A Brady Avenue resident said someone threw a rock through his window while he was sleeping, Monday. Police said there was a brick on his living room floor and the resident "doesn't know many people in the area and (wasn't sure" why someone would do (it.)"
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 308 Belleview Blvd., a refrigerator on the front porch; 1418 Euclid Ave., junk and personal items on porch; 1396 Euclid Ave., two chairs and litter on the curb.
