Stocking up: A city resident who'd allegedly fled Kroger with a bottle of tequila he hadn't paid for was taken into custody the next day when he apparently returned for more, Friday. Bruce V. Kohlepp, 27, who has no fixed address, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor theft, police said. Employees allege they found footage of Kohlepp concealing the tequila in his pants before fleeing on foot, and as they were talking with police spotted him walking out of the store again Friday. Police took Kohlepp into custody and said when they searched his backpack they found a bottle of wine and a sandwich that he hadn't paid for. Kohlepp was charged with two counts of misdemeanor thefts, police said.
Attention getter: Jonathon A. Davet, 22, 1404 Ridge Ave., Steubenville, was taken into custody on a bench warrant following a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Maryland Avenue, Friday. An officer on patrol said he saw "several kids hanging on the back and side of (Davet's) vehicle" and when they pulled him over to warn him of the violation the kids fled, but they discovered he had an outstanding warrant.
Issues: Callers reported a man "screaming in (a) parking lot" in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Sunday. Police said when they located him a block away the man "stated he only screamed once" but was okay and didn't need assistance.
Compounded problem: A Wellsburg woman is facing multiple charges after police allegedly found illicit substances in her vehicle during a traffic stop, Saturday. Police said Caitlyn F. Clark, 26, 406 Coss Lane, Wellsburg, was booked into the Jefferson County jail on charges of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a drug abuse instrument and was also cited for defective taillights. Police allege they located a rock-like substance believed to be cocaine on the driver's seat, along with a used hypodermic, two glass pipes and a handgun tucked in the driver's side pocket.
Stripped: A maintenance worker said he found all the copper piping and a hot water tank missing from a residence he was sent to inspect in the 1300 block of Cardinal Street, Saturday. He told police the first-floor toilet also was damaged. Entry was made through a basement window that had been removed, he said.
Looted: Residents in the 3200 block of St. Charles Drive said a female entered three of their vehicles, stealing items from two of them, Friday. They told police they'd caught the woman walking around their property around 1:30 a.m. She'd told them she needed a ride downtown but they refused. They later found vehicle registrations, ear buds, a Beats speaker, a wallet containing one of their IDS and credit cards, loose change and cell phone chargers were stolen. Police said a neighbor's security camera caught the woman entering the vehicles.
Throwing things: Police were told juveniles in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue were throwing rocks, Friday. A man said he had video of the kids throwing fireworks at a house and rocks at cars. They located the kids, who admitted throwing rocks but said they were on the other side of the road and nowhere near the man's residence.
False alarm: A caller told 9-1-1 dispatchers someone had thrown a knife at him, Saturday. He wasn't there when they arrived, but they located him a couple hours later "and he stated he was fine and was not stabbed."
Booked: Lisa White-Cline, 40, East Liverpool, misdemeanor theft, Saturday. Employees at Wal-Mart alleged White-Cline fled the store with nearly $120 in clothes and other merchandise that she hadn't paid for, though when police spoke with her she "stated she did not steal anything." While she was in custody White-Cline was served with an active warrant out of Harrison County for her arrest.
Violated: Rashaan D. Mukes, 38, 241 N. Ninth St., Steubenville, felony possession of drugs (pending), Friday. Police said U.S. Probation officers allege they located illicit substances at Mukes's residence during a routine check.
Booked: Zachary George, 34, 1417 Moreland Drive, Steubenville, misdemeanor theft, Saturday. Employees at Wal-Mart alleged George fled the store with $347 in clothing that he hadn't paid for, police said.
Road route: A caller reported two juveniles were throwing rocks at cars in the vicinity of John Scott Highway at West Argonne Drive, Friday. Police said the kids were gone when police arrived.
Booked: Melissa Marker, 36, Tippecanoe, warrant out of Jefferson County Common Pleas Court for failure to appear, Saturday; Dashawn Mims, 28, 290 E. Lane Ave., Apt. D, Steubenville, active warrant out of Jefferson County for failure to appear, Sunday. Police said Mims was transported to the county jail pending further charges.
