Foot chase: A city resident was charged after he allegedly left a wrecked car in the roadway at Lincoln Avenue at Lincoln Boulevard and fled on foot, Monday. Police said Jayven Powers, 18, 4031 West Argonne Ave., Steubenville, was was issued a summons for obstructing official business after they had to chase him to the 600 block of Prospect Avenue, where they found him hiding in the bed of a pickup truck. They allege they could "smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath as he spoke" to them, but he denied being at the wheel while also telling them there was no one else in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Police said the entire passenger side of the vehicle, including the axle, was damaged, and half a cinder block was sitting on the car seat below the shattered driver's window. The owner told police Powers had taken the keys without her knowledge but she did not wish to pursue charges.
