What drugs do: A county resident needed help with his wife, who he admitted has an addiction, Sunday. He told police he woke up to find "his alarm clock was torn apart and all the light bulbs removed," because she believed they were listening devices and was concerned for her welfare as well as their child. He said his wife had been addicted to methamphetamine but was sober for about 14 years before relapsing four years ago. He told deputies her behavior had become increasingly paranoid, and she'd accused him "of being involved in something" and had threatened to kill him if he didn't stay away from her, and a family member reported seeing her hit him after she realized he'd called for help. The man said she was "flipping out so he is pretty sure she will be fighting EMS," though any weapons in the home were secured. EMS reported they'd been to the home before and "(this) is the worst they'd seen her" and had locked herself in a closet and was refusing to come out. Another family member was able to convince her to go to the hospital for treatment.

Nuisance call: A Windsor Heights woman claimed she'd received a message that a man was waving a gun around in front of a Wintersville woman's residence, Wednesday. Deputies said the woman who lived there was surprised to find them there and said she'd never sent anyone a message suggesting she was in danger and she and her boyfriend both said there hadn't been anyone with a gun at their home. When they mentioned the identity of the caller the boyfriend realized his ex-girlfriend was behind it.

She's serious: A Toronto woman said a man showed up at her house, demanding to know where he could find his wife and kids, Friday. She said when she told him she hadn't spoken to them, she said the man told her, "If I don't find out there are going to be consequences" so she reminded him she is "a firm believer in the Second Amendment" and told him he needed to leave, which he did. She assured deputies she didn't feel threatened but was concerned, given what she'd heard about his "past issues" with his wife.

Problem neighbor: Mount Pleasant residents complained of shots being fired, Friday. Multiple residents reported hearing six shots but weren't sure if they'd come from inside or outside a neighbor's resident but told deputies "They were tired of the situation in their neighborhood and ... would like something done about it."

Wore out welcome: A Steubenville man said he wanted a female to leave his residence, but she refused to go, Saturday. Deputies spotted her walking on county Road 45 and ended up giving her a ride downtown. Also Saturday, a Mingo Junction resident wanted a woman to leave his residence, but she was gone when deputies arrived.

Caught looking: A man was sucker punched in the alleyway by Stewart Street in Empire, Friday. A female who witnessed the assault said he was hanging out with friends when one of them punched him in the side of his face. The male suffered a maxillary sinus fracture and a black eye.

Happy ending: A 3-year-old was reported missing from the backyard of an Amsterdam area residence Sunday, but Amsterdam police found her a few minutes later "in a garage, under some clothes."

Seems silly: A Yorkville man took exception to a man who was mowing his neighbor's lawn coming too close to his property line, Sunday. He said the mower threw a cinder block and "no trespassing" sign he put on what he believed to be the property line, bending the sign. The mower said he'd cut the grass strip next to his customer's fence and when he came back with the mower found the cinder block and sign near the fence on what he believed to be the neighbor's property. He said the neighbor "purposely planted" himself in the path of his mower and there was "a brief exchange of words" before he left. The neighbor said he's going to have a survey done.

Shouldn't be: An anonymous caller reported children in a Christopher Avenue, Wintersville, residence "have been crying for a while now and ... the mother is just yelling non-stop," Thursday. All was quiet when deputies arrived because the woman left with her mother-in-law.

Shadowed" A Richmond woman said she was being followed by two women in a red car "who almost hit her several times" as she headed home, Thursday. Deputies told her to stay on main roads until they could intercept them, but she said when she turned onto state Route 152 she lost them.

Incapacitated: A caller reported a woman in the parking lot outside a club on old state Route 7, "barely able to stand," Thursday. They said she hadn't been in the club, but she was showing signs of impairment. TEMS took her to the hospital for treatment.

Shadow boxing: Police said they were asked to check on the welfare of a man walking in the 400 block of North Seventh Street and said he did appear to be under the influence of drugs, Sunday. The caller had said he was "swinging at the air and fighting with himself and believed he saw 'people' in his upstairs windows," police reported. Police said he showed signs of drug impairment and sweating but denied using any illicit substance and refused medical attention. He claimed he'd "caught his girlfriend sleeping with another male who pushed him down the stairs," they said, adding that he told them he was walking to a family member's home. He was advised to go there and not leave.

Two calls, one arrest: A man who'd allegedly caused problems at his home early Sunday morning ended up in police custody after a second complaint less than 24 hours later. Police said Christopher Gilmore, 24, 731 Oxford Blvd., Steubenville, was booked into the county jail on a domestic violence charge Monday. Police were originally told the younger Gilmore had been arguing with his father about money he claimed was owed him and started "tearing up the residence." Police allege his speech was slurred and his eyes glossy and reported he'd told them he'd "been drinking and damaging the residence" but his father declined to pursue charges. The following morning a caller reported two men fighting in the front yard of the residence and police said when they got there Gilmore's grandfather initially told them he "didn't see his son or grandson fighting in the front yard nor was he aware that they were ever outside." Police said Christopher Gilmore was "extremely intoxicated" and told them nothing occurred between him and his father and that they'd "never physically fought," though his father said his son had punched him in the side of the face while he was sitting in his truck. The elder Gilmore requested charges be filed.

There's a reason he's an ex: A Cleveland Avenue resident's ex requested a welfare check on her, claiming she'd made concerning statements to him. The woman was at work and told police she did not need assistance, telling police the ex "has been making calls this to police for no reason other than to have police respond to her residence to cause annoyance."

Alarmed: A manager at a downtown business told police a man came to her place of work and threatened her, Monday. She said she obtained a protection order against him, but it was in Columbiana County, but police told her since it hasn't been served he's not considered in violation. She told officers she doesn't want him returning.

Vandals: A Grandview Avenue resident said two juveniles in a white SUV with temporary, out-of-state tags egged her front door, Monday. Police found the egg shells but said there didn't appear to have been permanent damage.

Tussle: Someone reported hearing a couple arguing in the 1300 block of Wellesley Avenue, Sunday. Police said the female told them her male companion "grabbed her hair and took her backpack and suitcase." The male claimed he didn't do either of those things, but police walked into the alley with her "and located her belongings off the side of the alley."

Summoned: Jasmine V. Wilson, 26, 744 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, failure to appear, Sunday.

Eviction issue: An Oregon Avenue resident who'd been served with an eviction notice said his landlord showed up and performed a walk-through without advising him first, Sunday. He said he no longer has a valid lease and is in the process of moving out but said he noticed the landlord had a gun and it made him uneasy. The landlord said he'd served the eviction papers on him a week before and believed he'd already moved out, since he'd told him he'd be gone within three days of the eviction date. He said when he knocked on the door it opened and as he walked in he announced himself but got no answer, so he believed it to be vacant.

Booked: Wade Manns, 30, 631 Buena Vista Blvd., charged with possession of a hypodermic and obstructing official business after a chase through the downtown, Sunday. Police also served him with a felony warrant out of Municipal court alleging theft.
