Steubenville Police
Forgot something: A caller complained of a man standing in the buff in a window in the 400 block of Lawson Avenue, Wednesday. Police were unable to make contact with him.
Kiss and tell: A woman in the 900 block of Sherman decided not to pursue charges against a man who allegedly kissed her before he slapped her face, yelled at another man’s wife and then threatened a juvenile who was upset with the way he’d talked to her mother and treated the other woman, Wednesday. The woman who was slapped told police he’d been drinking all day and was a felon and got upset when he heard the other woman talking to her daughter about guns. After the other woman told him to “watch the mouth” he “tried to start stuff” and started screaming at the juvenile. When the other woman’s angry husband came out to confront him, the man disappeared and when he came back out gave her the kiss and smack. She pondered filing charges but eventually decided to start eviction proceedings and get a protection order. The other woman’s husband told police he’d “come down to beat” the man causing the problems but the man fled. He went out looking for him and told police he crashed into a fire hydrant in the 500 block of Franklin Avenue when he tried to do a U-turn.
Stranger danger: A city resident told police a man tried to get her juvenile daughter into his truck, Wednesday. She said the girl had just gotten off work when a man in a red semi-truck stopped and asked her to get in. The girl never got in the truck and he never got out, she said.
Charged: Quamar Drakes, 30, 513 N. Fifth St., Steubenville, domestic violence, Wednesday. Drakes allegedly assaulted a family member, throwing a glass jar containing melted wax across a room and ripping the cables to the TV out of the family member’s wall. The tenant said she tried to walk away, but Drakes allegedly tackled her to the ground “and in the process, bit (her) on the right side of her face/cheek” and police said they could see fresh bite marks on her cheek.
Bottled up: A city resident complained her teenage sons weren’t respecting her or listening to her, Tuesday. She said she’d asked them to clean up but they refused. The boys said she was intoxicated “and entered their rooms as they were asleep and began causing a disturbance about (them) not cleaning.” She’d told police her mother has legal custody of the boys, and they told her if she wanted them to live in Mississippi, she’d have to make arrangements “and to worry about cleaning in the morning.”
Concerning: A tall, skinny male wearing a white tank top and bandana over his face was allegedly holding a gun as he walked on the Lawson Avenue overpass toward Pittsburgh Street, Tuesday. Police said they checked the area but didn’t find anyone matching the description they were given.
Booked: Rick Willis, 34, 787 Spring St., Salineville, warrant for probation violation, Monday.
Served: Tiffany M. White, 49, Sherman Avenue, Steubenville, fleeing and eluding, Monday.
Taken: A Central Avenue resident said his 2003 Chevy Malibu was stolen, Monday. He said he last used it Saturday afternoon, but a neighbor told him he saw someone in his driveway and watched the car backing out Saturday evening. The owner said he has all three sets of car keys and the vehicle was locked.
