Police reports

Jefferson County Sheriff

Recaptured: An Amsterdam man who walked away from Eastern Ohio Correctional Center over the weekend was recaptured, but is facing additional charges of breaking and entering, escape and theft of a motor vehicle. Earlier this week authorities had reported Luke Andrew Magee, 38, 6021 Brocade Rd. SE, Amsterdam, had climbed on top of a garbage can Sunday at EOCC and maneuvered himself onto the roof, then walked away. On Tuesday deputies were dispatched to Rance Industries, State Route 43, to investigate a reported breaking and entering. The owner said several employees who live at the site reported a new pair of boots and $500 in cash were missing and reported the thefts had been captured on surveillance video. Deputies said Magee, a former employee, was later spotted on the property and taken into custody. Employees also alleged Magee had stolen a company vehicle Monday night but returned it the following morning, deputies said. The key was concealed in a cigarette pack in Magee’s possession when he was arrested, they said.

Steubenville Police

In custody: A city woman ended up in police custody after a prolonged disturbance in the 200 block of North Seventh Street, Wednesday. Police booked Maleah Deserae Fletcher, 33, 810 N. Sixth Street, Steubenville, into the county jail on charges of persistent disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. They said Fletcher, a male companion and several children were in a vehicle that had been stopped by Ohio State Highway Patrol and said Fletcher, who was driving, “became extremely irate” and began arguing with her companion. Police said it appeared that the male was trying to calm Fletcher down, which only served to “agitate (her) more.” They said they had the male exit the vehicle for the duration of the traffic stop but claim Fletcher “continued to be irate and yell obscenities” at the officers. After being cleared from the traffic stop they said she drove to the other side of the parking lot and the two of them got out and continued to argue. Police allege Fletcher took several swings at her companion and was repeatedly warned she needed to walk away but didn’t, and when reminded the other children were still in the car they said she stepped toward an officer “and began point her finger at (him) while screaming” and allegedly tried to “open slap” him.

Costly break: A Westwood Drive property owner who had to evict his former companion said when he finally regained possession he discovered “several items were deliberately damaged,” Wednesday. He showed police power cords to two air purifiers that had been cut, a 60-inch television that was smashed and a hole punched in a bathroom door. He said he also discovered his video cameras had been taken offline and his hotspot was missing.

Shattered: Oregon Avenue residents reported a brick was thrown through a window, Wednesday. One of the occupants reported hearing a “loud sound” the night before, and the other resident told police she discovered the broken door window when she came home.

No returns: A man sleeping on the stairway at a private property on South Fourth Street was told he would have to move on, Wednesday. Police advised him he would be arrested if he returned.

Panhandling: Police were called when a woman asking people for money refused to leave Franciscan Square, Wednesday. When they spoke with the woman she requested a ride to the 100 block of North Fourth Street.

Disappeared: A caller reported a man had fallen off a bicycle on University Boulevard at Seventh Street, Thursday. Police were unable to locate anyone in need of assistance.

Served: William Zimmerman III, 44, 200 Murphy Ave., Steubenville, failure to appear.
