Bad ending: The owner of a city business said he had an altercation with an employee who he'd suspended for work violations, Monday. He said he'd told the employee to leave and he did, but then the employee came back and began loading tools and other items into his vehicle. He said when he told the man to stop as he was unsure if any of the items belonged to the business, the man put him in a headlock and chokehold and began wrenching his neck and told him, "This is not going to end well for you." Other employees broke it up and the now former employee was advised he needed to leave the equipment until it could be properly inventoried.

Munchies: Wal-Mart employees complained that a man they'd seen before walking through the store eating food he hadn't paid for had returned, Monday. They allege the man picked up a cooked chicken and proceeded to eat it while he walked around the store, then left without paying for it and claimed he'd been seen doing the same thing several times before but they hadn't been able to detain him. Police said they charged Louis Sadler, 55, 818 N. Eighth St., Steubenville, with theft.

Charged: A caller reported hearing a woman who appeared to be intoxicated threatening harm to herself and the man who was walking with her on Ridge Avenue at Ohio Street, Saturday. Police allege when they found her she appeared "highly intoxicated," had trouble standing still, stumbled and "slurred her speech," and claimed they found two crack pipes in her bag. Police said DiAsha L. Smith, 33, 526 Linden Ave., Steubenville was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Anger issue: Police stood by while a man who'd recently been charged with domestic violence went into his former residence to retrieve his belongings and car keys, Monday. His wife gave him permission to get his things, but when he was unable to find his Suboxone prescription "began to get angry," so police ordered him to leave.

Arrested: Two Pennsylvania woman were taken into custody after they allegedly tried to leave Wal-Mart with just over $415 in linens, toiletries and food that they hadn't paid for, Monday. Police said Rayetta J. Lee, 57, of Aliquippa was booked for misdemeanor theft and Tanisha R. Gill, 46, also of Aliquippa, was charged with misdemeanor theft and criminal trespass. Employees claimed the women filled a large plastic tote with merchandise and shut the lid, and when a worker popped the lid at checkout and "appeared to remind the (women) to pay for the merchandise" inside it, they put the lid back on and skip-scanned a few items before trying to leave the property.

Having fits: A woman caused a disturbance inside a Maryland Avenue business, Monday. Police said a shelf loaded with snacks had been knocked over and a garbage can outside the business was overturned before she fled on foot. Employees said they didn't recognize the woman and believe she was going door-to-door selling things. They didn't want to pursue charges, but they don't want the woman coming into the store again.

Ne'er do wells: Police were told two people were going door-to-door in the JFK Apartment complex, trying to get inside apartments. Police checked the cameras and were able to see the pair in the building trying to open doors, but they were gone before police arrived and weren't found in the area.

Fraud: A city resident reported someone's been using her child support card to make purchases at various stores throughout town, Monday. She told police she lost her purse two weeks ago at a downtown business. She said about $80 had been spent.

Collision: An automobile and a concrete cutter collided in a construction zone on county Road 26 near Walnut Avenue, Monday. The concrete cutter was working and was left of center making its cuts. The flagger had allowed the other vehicle to enter the work zone, but the driver said there wasn't enough room for him to safely pass the concrete cutter and the driver of the other vehicle said there wasn't enough clearance for him to get past it.

Theft alleged: Employees at Wal-Mart allege a woman skip-scanned merchandise at the self-checkout and then tried to leave the store without paying for all of it, Monday. Police said Ashley M. Pippins, 34, 716 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, was charged with theft. Employees valued the merchandise at nearly $300.

Story time: Police were told a man and woman in a white, four-door sedan were having a physical confrontation, Monday. Police located the vehicle as it was pulling into a lot on North Sixth Street but the couple inside denied any physical altercation. The woman said she was yelling at her partner but did not strike him, nor did he strike her.

Drugs: An apparent overdose was reported in the 100 block of North Fifth Street, Monday. Police said the man was unresponsive when they arrived and being treated by Steubenville EMS, who administered Narcan to revive him. Police issued him a drug treatment form and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Neighborhood disputes: A McKinley Avenue resident said he was threatened by a neighbor who was upset he'd called police about fireworks being let off, Monday. The caller showed police a video of the neighbor "expressing his discontent" with him reporting the fireworks and at one point allegedly said "he is extremely tough," which the caller interpreted as a threat.

Concerned: A Clinton Avenue resident said a man known to him was "mailing threats to (come) to his residence to ... fight him," Monday.

Booked: Corey Lyons Sr., 61, 245 Hollywood Blvd., Steubenville, domestic violence, Monday. Lyons allegedly threatened harm to family members.

Warrant served: E'Morey Chiles, 19, 1307 Jefferson St., Steubenville, theft of a motor vehicle, Monday.
