Sex for hire: Nine individuals were booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges they solicited sex acts at an Oregon Avenue location, Tuesday. Facing charges are: Ronald E. DiCarlo Jr., 57, Mingo Junction; Shawn M. Anderson, 40, Follansbee; Casandra M. Sabo, 35, St. Clairsville; Jacob J. Canterbury, 52, Follansbee; Eric H. Coleman, 49, Wheeling; Morgan A. Aracich, 30, Wellsburg; Michael D. Virgin, 36, Whiteoak, Pa.; and Sean S. Finsley, 45, Weirton. All nine were charged with possession of criminal tools in addition to solicitation, police said. At least six of the arrests were made in the 1600 block of Oregon Avenue. No further details were available.
Didn't listen: A Wintersville man ended up in custody after he ignored advice to "go inside for the night," Wednesday. Police said Richard German, 28, 47 Christopher Ave., Apt. B, was put on an eight-hour intoxication hold at the county jail after he allegedly threw a beer in a juvenile's face. Late Tuesday, callers reported a disturbance in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, telling police two "highly intoxicated: males had been using racial slurs" and causing problems. They'd left before police arrived, but they caught up to them "standing in the middle of Washington Street...holding a Mike's Hard Lemonade can." Police report German was "highly agitated and highly intoxicated," and was cited for an open container before a family member took him home. Less than two hours later a bystander flagged police down to report a male had been assaulted in front of Fort Steuben Apartments. Police said the male involved was a juvenile who told them he'd been arguing with German about a vape when German threw the beer in his face. Bystanders confirmed his account. They said when the caught up to German, "he kept avoiding the question as to why he threw the beer" in the kid's face, saying he told them "Would you rather me punch him in the face?" Police said he claimed the juvenile charged him and threw the alcohol but noted he reeked of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy. In addition to his open container citation, German was charged with intoxication/disorderly conduct, police said.
Dog missing: A Hillary Square resident told police a man used his car to drive himself to the hospital in Weirton and left it there, Tuesday. He said he found the car, but his dog was no longer in it. Police told him to ask the man where he'd left his pet.
Mom's always right: A juvenile ran off after her mother scolded her "for sneaking a boy into the residence as well as finding pornographic material on her cell phone," Tuesday. Police located her not far away and took her home.
No way to live: Police were told squatters had taken up residence in an abandoned garage in the 700 block of North Commercial Alley, Tuesday. Police located one of them, who said they had permission to stay there though he couldn't tell them who told him it was OK. The garage was "in deplorable conditions with garbage everywhere," and the man was advised to gather his things, leave the garage and not return.
Blame game: A city resident told police she let a friend's two kids spend the night and discovered one of them, a girl, was missing, Tuesday. She said the juvenile's family has been sending her harassing texts and actually came to her home earlier in the day looking for the child. She was advised to block them on social media and her phone.
Obnoxious behavior: Police told the mother of a juvenile who was causing problems at a Lincoln Avenue business and the kid himself he is no longer permitted on the property, Tuesday. Employees said the kid comes to the store regularly but causes problems, telling police he "has been known to steal, harass customers and be disrespectful." They said they don't want him to come back.
Drugs: A caller reported an unresponsive woman in a residence in the 1600 block of Roosevelt Avenue, Tuesday. The woman was located on her back in the living room, and police said Steubenville EMS was able to revive her with Narcan but report she was "very lethargic and in a state similar to that of someone coming out of a drug overdose." Police said they saw a used hypodermic needle and a metal spoon with residue near her, but she denied using drugs. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation and issued a drug treatment form.
Vandalized: A resident in the 400 block of South Fourth Street told police she came home from work and discovered her rear window shattered, Tuesday.

Teen angst: A Rayland woman said a blue Chevy Cruze stopped at her home, and the occupants were "calling her vulgar names and racial slurs," Monday. She described them as "kids" and was unable to provide names but said the victim had been "talking to" a man who has had a baby with the female believed to have been at the wheel of the car.
Strong language: A caller reported a fight in the area of Stella Street, Tiltonsville, Monday. She said she could hear "a lot of screaming and cussing going on." Deputies were able to locate the parties involved and separate them, and said they were told a neighbor had walked down the road to ask for a ride and "did not like the answer" they got. She told deputies she didn't know the neighbors or the house they lived in and believes they "may have been intoxicated at the time," and when she told them she wasn't interested in taking them where they wanted to go "they became argumentative and began yelling at her and her family." She said there was no physical altercation, but she did have to raise her voice "quite substantially ... to get her point across."
Petty: A woman told deputies her boyfriend "locked her out of the house and wouldn't give her access to her property," Monday. She said he also was throwing her mail out the window, but when deputies arrived, he wouldn't come to the door. Deputies said she wasn't happy when they told her that her only recourse is to take him to civil court, but told them he'd "eventually" let her in.
Pilfered: A riding mower and a push mower were stolen from an Adena residence that's been on the market, Monday. The lawn equipment was to have been part of the sale.
Booked: Richard R. Dobbs, 28, 444 county Road 20, Dillonvale, warrant for failure to appear and failure to comply with a police officer, Tuesday.
