Steubenville Police
Different drum: A shirtless male was dancing in the street in the 900 block of North Seventh Street Saturday. Police said he told them he “was practicing for an upcoming rap battle” and said he didn’t need help. They told him to stay out of the street.
Alone time: A man sitting outside a Hollywood Plaza business was yelling at customers. Friday. Police said he was agitated when they talked with him and advised “passersby keep talking to him.” He said he was waiting for the bus to go home.
Trespassing: A resident in the 500 block of Arden Avenue said her new neighbor had someone “cut down all her trees and destroy (her) garden” because it was encroaching on her property, Friday. She said they’d had an agreement that she would remove the garden by the end of the season due to it being slightly over the property line, but she looked out her window and noticed several individuals in their yard “spraying chemicals on the property” and when she asked them to stop, “they became irate and aggressive.”
Unhappy woman: A Terrace Avenue resident said his girlfriend “was upset and began throwing his things outside,” Friday. The female said she was upset because he was cheating on her.” They agreed to separate “until things calmed down.”
Bad look: An Opal Boulevard resident wanted her mother removed from her property, Saturday. The resident was concerned because she appeared to be intoxicated and didn’t want her around her children, and police said the older woman did appear to be under the influence of alcohol. She agreed to go to the hospital but declined EMS assistance getting in the ambulance, then “fell while getting onto the gurney.”
Drunk and disorderly: A man was taken to the shelter to sober up after a family member reported he was throwing things throughout the residence, Friday. His mother said he’s been causing problems for a couple weeks and had come home that day “intoxicated and … upset over a matter relating to a female friend of his” and shoved her while she was calling 911 and she is afraid of him. The male admitted downing four Long Island Iced teas that day. There were several broken items in the residence but he denied shoving his mother.
Drugs: A woman was “rolling around” on the sidewalk in the 100 block of North Fifth Street, Friday. Police said she had “no control over her body movements and was unable to make any coherent statements.” She was taken to the hospital to be medically cleared before police served her with a warrant.
Gone: A man who had briefly stayed at an apartment in the 100 block of North Fourth Street before his arrest is out of jail and wanted his possessions returned, Saturday. The resident said none of the former houseguest’s things were in the residence anymore because he’d “made arrangements with (his) girlfriend” to retrieve the items after he put them in the hallway after his arrest.
Items tossed: Someone reported seeing items draped over a chain link fence at the Washington Street underpass, Friday. The items were removed from the fence and the street department contacted to remove the debris from the area. A homeless woman who was nearby denied squatting on the sidewalk.
Walking wounded: A man who parked his car in a handicap space in the 200 block of South Hollywood Boulevard had to move his vehicle because of a complaint, Saturday. Police said when they spoke to the owner of the van, he “could barely walk due to a severe leg injury” but he moved his van one spot down to satisfy the caller.
Walk-in: A Rosslyn Boulevard resident told police she came home after work “and found numerous household items missing,” Friday. She thinks the owner of the house, who does not live there but has a key, entered without permission and removed some of her things. She told police four or five plastic totes filled with her belongings are missing. Police said the woman has had difficulties before with the male.
Mother of the year: Police were told a woman left her child with a family member five days ago “and has not been back,” Saturday.
Not smart: A city resident said a neighbor is harassing her and her daughter despite a court order barring her from contacting either of them, Saturday.
Assigning blame: A North Sixth Street resident said her fence was damaged and blamed it on the neighbor’s kids, Saturday. Police said a single board was missing.
Booked: A driver who allegedly rolled through a stop sign on Pittsburgh Street at Pennsylvania Avenue, then traveled left of center on Lawson Avenue was taken into custody, Sunday. Izel Cooper, 27, no street address listed, of Steubenville was booked into the Jefferson County jail on a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence, police said. Cooper allegedly had an open container in the driver door, his vehicle smelled like alcohol and he was unable to complete field sobriety tests, they said.
Warned: Three people were caught inside a “known and obvious abandoned building” in the 200 block of North Commercial Street, Sunday. Police said the three — two men and one woman — were identified and advised to leave the property and not return.
Harassment: A city resident reported being harassed by a subject known to her, Saturday. She said she’s involved in court proceedings involving the individual and he had followed her “in an attempt to speak with her.”
Uneak Ann White, 28, 103 10th St., Wellsburg, was booked into the county jail on a failure to appear warrant out of Wintersville County Court, Sunday. White also was cited for having no operator’s license.
Booked: Skylar M. Haines, 22, 502 state Route 151, Mingo Junction, warrant for failure to appear (Municipal Court), Friday; Jiah Minnefield, 27, 622 Brady Ave., Steubenville, failure to appear, Friday.
