Steubenville Police

Playing possum: A resident in the 700 block of Oakmont Avenue said a “highly intoxicated” female in his residence had locked herself in his home and was breaking things, Sunday. Police said they could hear things breaking inside but couldn’t see anything, so the homeowner volunteered to kick his side door open so police could gain entry. Once inside police located the female “lying face down and (appearing) to be unconscious.” An ambulance was called but after rolling the woman over onto her back to see if she was breathing, police said she “appeared to be breathing normally but would not wake or respond when spoken to” and said they saw her “lift her middle finger in the air” towards the male. She wanted police to help her to her feet but, since she’d been laying on the floor with a chair overturned next to her, they told her they were concerned she might have been injured and told her to wait until (Steubenville EMS) arrived.” Police said there were “multiple broken items throughout the first floor,” including mirrors and items that had been overturned in the living room. EMS attempted to aid the woman, but she declined assistance. The homeowner found a fifth of liquor in the trash that he said had been half-full earlier in the day. He didn’t want to pursue charges but he did want her out of his home, so she decided she wanted to go to the hospital. Police said she was still “highly intoxicated resulting in her being unsteady on her feet and needing assistance” leaving the residence. When they put her into the ambulance police said she “began to swing her arms around, striking both EMTs” and said she “also unintentionally spit and wiped saliva on both (of them) as well.”

Turned away: A man who wanted to visit with his kids at a Stratford Boulevard location ended up scuffling with their neighbor, Sunday. Police said they don’t have a visitation agreement, so when the man arrived and “one of his other children ran to the house to see their siblings,” one of his ex’s family members advised that it was not a good time for him to visit. The three of them started arguing and when a neighbor saw things heating up, he tried to intervene. The two men ended up in a shoving match with torn shirts but neither of them wants to pursue charges. The mother of the children was advised to contact the courts if she wants to have her ex banned from her property, and her ex was advised to contact the courts if he wants to pursue court-ordered custody guidelines.

Police said the woman was “slouched over on the sidewalk” in front of the store and alleged she was alert but “obviously intoxicated and even had a large bottle of Southern Comfort on the ground in front of her.” Police reported the woman was “uncooperative and unwilling to be polite” with them and told them she wanted to go to jail, but they tried to get her to contact a friend or family member before they resorted to taking her into custody. Police said they ended up charging Alexandria Corsaro, 39, 107 Lincoln Ave., Mingo Junction, with intoxication/disorderly conduct.

Causing a scene: A man was refusing to leave the downtown Speedway, Sunday. The manager said the man was irate because the ATM didn’t give him the money he’d asked for and he didn’t want to leave without it. The man left in a blue car with West Virginia plates before police arrived.
