Nurse, aide assaulted: A city resident is facing charges after she allegedly assaulted two medical professionals caring for her at Trinity Medical Center West, Sunday. Police said Heather Stevens, 28, 524 N. Fifth St., was charged in Steubenville Municipal Court with assault and harassment with a bodily substance after witnesses told them Stevens became combative and while they were getting her limbs into restraints she punched an aid in the face. They claimed Stevens also spat in the face of a nurse who had knelt down to apply pressure to her arm after she’d pulled her IV out. Police said the aide had a cut and swelling above her eye.

Injured pedestrian: A pedestrian was struck by a car in the McDonald’s parking lot, Sunday. The pedestrian told police she was walking from her vehicle to the restaurant when she was struck by a vehicle that had just pulled into the lot. Police said she had no visible injuries but “was obviously in pain.” The motorist said she’d just pulled in and didn’t see the pedestrian walking through the lot. She told police the pedestrian had initially told her she wasn’t hurt and went into the restaurant, but she called 9-1-1 anyway. A witness said he saw the pedestrian park her vehicle and “(begin) quickly walking toward the restaurant when she was struck.”

Telling whoppers: Police said a man told them he had permission from the owner of a business on county Road 26 to pull scrap from the property, but the owner arrived on scene and told them he said nothing of the sort, Sunday. The man and two women with him were told to put all the metal back where they’d found it. They also were advised to leave the property and not return.

Shoving match: A Maryland Avenue mother told police responding to a disturbance call her son and daughter had argued and started “pushing and shoving each other,” Sunday. Police said all involved had calmed down and agreed to stay away from each other.
