Facing multiple charges: An East Liverpool woman is facing multiple charges after employees at Wal-Mart told police she tried to leave the store with several hundred dollars worth of items she hadn’t paid for Sunday. Police said Susan I. Pritt, 40, was held without bond on charges of misdemeanor theft, trespassing, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after they allegedly found her toting two large purses full of Wal-Mart merchandise. They said when they told Pritt she was being detained for a theft investigation she “became argumentative and denied stealing anything,” then attempted to walk away. She told police she had receipts, but they said the papers she produced were for ATM transactions. Police said Pritt insisted she’d entered the store through the to return a television and an appliance they’d confiscated from a vehicle and urged them to check the store’s security footage, but employees said after they’d spotted a shopping cart full of merchandise outside the restroom they began tracking it and Pritt and the garden center entrance had been padlocked for the night before the entered the store. They claimed they watched Pritt “take the television in question from the store shelf as well as the kitchen appliance … then attempt to return (them) without a receipt …” They alleged when customer service refused to give her a refund Pritt walked out of the store with merchandise that hadn’t been paid for. Pritt disputed the employees’ account, but police said they watched the video themselves before taking her into custody. Police said merchandise valued at $464 was seized.
