Steubenville Police
Slithering in: A resident in the 1200 block of Plum Street reported a snake in her house, Saturday. An officer removed the intruder from the residence.
Acting out: Callers reported individuals in a gray van acting suspiciously in the mall parking lot, Saturday. Police identified them as university students who said they were only racing each other on foot, but they were told the store was not open and security wanted them to leave.
Booked: Delbert W. Tanner, 46, 318 Terrace Ave., Steubenville, child neglect (Athens), Sunday.
Playing possum: A Westwood Drive resident who didn’t answer the door when police were at her house to get her to move her truck came outside when the tow truck arrived, Monday. Police said the vehicle had been marked for overtime parking three weeks ago. They said she came outside once the tow truck pulled up and said she’d have her boyfriend move her truck when he returned home later in the day. She also paid the tow operator the $75 fee for the service call, they said.
Booked: Enrique Acosta, 28, no fixed address, domestic violence, falsification and possession of drug paraphernalia, Monday.
Collisions: Cited: Jimmie L. Elliott, 72, Boardman, assured clear distance ahead after a three-car accident Friday at the intersection of state Route 7 and University Boulevard. No injuries were reported, and all three vehicles were damaged but were driven away; Louis C. Hass, 74, township Road 146, Adena, left of center after a two-vehicle accident with no injuries reported in the 900 block of North Seventh Street.
Game player: An Oak Grove resident said she heard yelling coming from a house several doors away, Monday. Police spoke with the homeowner who advised his child “was yelling over a video game.” He told police he’d have his kid quiet down.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 814 Rosswell, junk and litter piled in the front and back of property; Also, 715 Oakmont Ave. and 1311 Jefferson St., both for high grass/weeds.
Charged: Jorden Tarutis, 23, 815 N. Sixth St., Apt. 319, Steubenville, misdemeanor theft.
Summoned: Raymond J. Haynes Jr., 47, 710 township Road 381, Steubenville, possession of drug paraphernalia, Sunday.
Cited: Gregory Stiles, 804 W. Fernwood Drive, Toronto, no operator’s license; Brittany N. Logan, 32, Malvern, failure to signal;

Stiffed: A Toronto resident said he hired a contractor to put a roof on and he never showed up to do the work, Monday. He told deputies the contractor sent him a check, but it bounced.
Trashy behavior: Someone dumped animal feces at the JB Green Team collection site at Dunham’s at the Fort Steuben Mall, Sept. 30. Also, someone dumped a TV at the Aquinas collection site, Monday. Deputies said the culprit appears to have been driving a van with light blue stripes.
Ex issues: A Dillonvale resident said her ex-husband is harassing her, Saturday. She said he’d passed her on state Route 150 and made a point of swerving toward her, then passed her again on a double yellow line. She said he’s been harassing her since they broke up.
More ex issues: A Toronto woman said her ex is harassing her, Thursday. She said he was threatening to come to her home and remove her kids if her current boyfriend doesn’t leave. Deputies said there were multiple messages but none that rose to the level of a threat. She was advised to seek a stalking protection order.
Stolen: A homeowner reported the theft of a 2019 Polaris Razor 1000 from a property on township Road 54 overnight, Saturday.
