Escalation: An altercation Thursday between neighbors on Lincoln Avenue is alleged to have turned physical. Police spoke with a couple who claimed they got in a dispute with their neighbor over her cat coming onto their property and constantly getting into their trash. The man said he intended to fight the neighbor’s friend, and they began arguing and put up their fists to fight but never threw any punches. The woman claimed she was assaulted by the neighbor and wanted to press charges but later changed her mind and denied medical attention. The cat owner claimed she was leaving to catch the animal that had run outside, when she heard her friend and the male neighbor get into an argument. She said the female neighbor threatened her and rushed at her, striking her jaw, so she returned the favor. She denied medical attention but sent police footage allegedly showing part of the altercation. Her friend claimed the male neighbor initiated the argument by repeatedly calling him a racial slur. As police were speaking with him, a relative of the female neighbor arrived and allegedly threatened to fight the cat owner. Reports claim she was temporarily detained by police and called the friend a racial slur from the rear of the cruiser. The cat owner provided a written statement, and police forwarded information to the prosecutor’s office for review.

He claimed there was no issue with his burning and asked to see the law that forbids his actions. Firefighters showed the fire code to the wife, and police told the husband he cannot start fires indoors, and a burn ban was in place.
