Steubenville Police
Fine line: Family members of a woman who was “intoxicated in her own bedroom” reported a disturbance, Sunday. Police talked to the woman, who advised “everything was OK and no assistance was needed.” She said she was arguing with a male who “did not exit the bedroom” but she was going to call it a night and asked them to leave. Her family members said she “was being more annoying than anything criminal.”
Street fight: A woman told police her boyfriend gave her a ride to a Kendall Avenue location without knowing his sister was there, Sunday. She said her boyfriend’s sister and she did not get along and the woman attacked her in the street so she defended herself, telling police she “beat his sister …” Police said the caller had scrapes and a bite mark on her leg, and her boyfriend had a scrape on his arm and hand that he sustained when he tried to break the fight up. His sister had scrapes on her foot and arm, a lump on her forehead and her lip was bleeding and, with help from an interpreter, inquired about a protection order, police said. All involved refused treatment. Police advised them to stay away from each other.
Raising cain: Someone reported a disturbance in the 400 block of South Sixth Street, Sunday. The caller voiced concern that the dispute had turned physical but both parties insisted it was strictly verbal. The female, who was crying when police arrived, said they’ve been living together for eight years and said it never escalated to physical violence, as did the male who told police they were “arguing over issues with (their) relationship.” Police said the woman had no obvious injuries and told them she wasn’t interested in pursuing charges, but she did want him to leave.
Conflicting accounts: A Lauretta Drive resident told police she was arguing with her husband “and he placed his hand on her face and pushed her,” Sunday. Police said she had no obvious injuries and the two of them agreed to stay away from each other until things cooled down, but while they were talking to her, they said her husband came outside and they started arguing again. He told police he had yelled at his son but did not place a hand on his wife. All information was forwarded to the prosecutor for consideration of charges, police said.
Not welcome: The owner of a business in the 100 block of North Fourth Street spotted a man behind his building, breaking things, Sunday. Police said there were “pots and other debris” on the ground in the alley. The owner said he doesn’t want to pursue charges but he does want the man permanently banned from his property.
Piling on: A woman ended up in police custody after she allegedly gave them a fictitious name, Monday. Police said they spotted Tonya Morgan, 42, 465 Lincoln Ave., and a male companion behind the downtown Speedway “pulling items out of the dumpster” and claim when they informed the pair it’s prohibited in Steubenville, Morgan gave them someone else’s name but an officer recognized her. Morgan was taken into custody for falsification and, when they searched her, police reported finding several crack pipes and a small piece of a tied plastic bag containing a substance believed to be fentanyl. In addition to the falsification charge, Morgan also was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. The male was not charged.
Opportunistic: Mid-town Speedway employees said a man who’ was working on his truck while it was parked in the lot came in the store and grabbed two sandwiches and a bag of chips from the shelves, then ran out without paying, Monday. They told police he was driving a red Ford F150 and was in his mid-30s.
Worrisome: A city resident told police her ex is harassing her, calling her all night and throwing things at her window, Saturday. She said she didn’t see him doing it “but knows it was him” and said he’s been threatening her. She said he’d been harassing her for weeks before they broke up, and said she was visiting a family member in another part of town when they “got into a verbal argument” and she saw a gun in his waistband. After he left on foot she noticed her tire had been slashed and $30 in cash was missing from the center console.
Booked: Kristin Williams, 35, 517 Grandview Ave., Steubenville, possession of drugs and illegally conveying contraband into a correctional facility, also served with a warrant for failure to appear (Steubenville Municipal Court), Sunday. A male companion, Jason Darby, 42, no address listed, was booked into jail for failure to appear (Municipal Court), Sunday. Williams allegedly had cocaine in her possession, police said.
Served: Chad Logsdon, 33, 486 S. Sixth St., Steubenville, turned over to Harrison County deputies on a warrant, Saturday.
Booked: Ted Toothman, 59, 224 Lovers Lane, Steubenville, contempt (Toronto County Court), Sunday.
Concerned: A city resident said a man known to him “keeps coming to (his) building and threatening his life,” Sunday. Police advised him to obtain a protection order and then checked the area but were unable to locate the other man.
Reported: Shots were reported fired in the 700 block of Rosswell Avenue, but police were unable to locate evidence of a problem in the area, Sunday.
Not permitted: A man in the 2000 block of Sunset Boulevard was spotted rummaging through a dumpster, Sunday. He was warned scavenging is prohibited in Steubenville and was instructed to put the items he’d already collected back in the dumpster.
Cited: Precious Turner, 42, 1043 Main St., Steubenville, dog at large. A neighbor told police Turner’s dogs “chased his wife on the porch” and said he’s having “constant issues” with the same dog. Their owner said they ran out the front door and she was unable to get them back inside. Others cited: Maurranna Brown, 44, 2409 Sunset Blvd. (rear), Steubenville, expired/unlawful plates.
Jefferson County Sheriff
Boomers: Workers cleaning out the Springfield Township Garage in Bergholz said they found a tackle box with about 15 blasting caps in it, April 25. Deputies took pictures of the caps and reached out to the Youngstown Bomb Squad, who advised they were “extraordinarily volatile” and to keep everyone away from them until agents arrived on scene. When the bomb squad showed up and inspected the blasting caps, they discovered the blasting caps were copper “which (is) more dangerous and more sensitive,” so instead of transporting them back to Youngstown they did a controlled burn.
