Tearing it up: A city man was taken into custody after police found him in the home of a woman he’d been ordered by a judge to stay away from, Monday. Joseph Mitchell, 30, 1301 Ridge Ave., was charged with violating a protection order after police found him at a residence in the 800 block of Market Street while following up on a 9-1-1 hangup call. They said they discovered “the kitchen to be a mess and multiple people yelling at each other” and the woman said they’d “been arguing all day” and it turned physical. She said he “might have grabbed her a few times but she was unsure and was not worried about it.” Police allege Mitchell told them “he was the one assaulted” by the female and her children.
Rude neighbor: A resident in the 500 block of Grandview Avenue discovered three tires on one of his vehicle had been punctured after a confrontation with a neighbor who he said habitually blocks his driveway, Monday. They said the man, a “tall, skinnier male with tattoos,” routinely parks his gray Impala in such a way they have difficulty getting out of their driveway. He said words were exchanged before he managed to “move past the car and (go) to the store,” but when he returned, he found tires on his other vehicle with puncture marks.
Mom fight: Two women sharing an apartment on Oak Grove Avenue squabbled after an incident involving their young children, Monday. Police said one of the women said her juvenile son was bitten by her roommate’s juvenile daughter and when she tried to correct the child, the girl’s mother “became upset and got in her face, shouting,” which led to a physical altercation. She said she shoved the girl’s mother, at which point the other woman hit her in the side of the head. The other woman confirmed her story and neither of them wanted to pursue charges, but the caller told police she was going to leave for the night.
Charged, summoned: A driver was charged and a passenger served with a warrant after a traffic stop in the 200 block of North Seventh Street, Monday. Police said Ashley Berger, 41, 715 B N. Fourth St., Monday, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after they found a used pipe in her possession, while Tiah Merritt, 34, 423 N. Seventh St., was served with a warrant for failing to appear in court. They said Berger, Merritt and two others in the vehicle “all advised different reasoning for being in the area,” and Berger told them she “didn’t really know the occupants.”
Down and out: A man was laying on the front porch of a property in the 600 block of North Fifth Street, Monday. Police said they talked to the man, who told them he was fine and left the area.
Needed help: Police arranged for a city resident to be admitted for mental health and possible rehab after reports he appeared to be in distress, Monday. He told police his children had recently been taken away, and he “smoked narcotics to ‘take his pain away.'”
Bothersome: An Arlington Avenue man said a neighbor is “harassing him and threatening to say things about him to others,” Monday. He said he’s known the woman for nine years and it’s been “an ongoing issue.”
