Landing spot: An intoxicated male was causing problems in the 1400 block of State Street, Tuesday. Police said the man was “conscious but highly confused and slow moving” and was being treated by Steubenville firefighters when they arrived. The homeowner said the man was “passed out and laying in the sun” on his back porch, so he’d moved him to the shade to cool down while they waited for help.
Head-on: A Mingo Junction resident was cited after a head-on collision in the 2900 block of Sunset Boulevard, Wednesday. The oncoming driver said he was eastbound in the passing lane when the other vehicle crossed the center line and hit him head-on. Police allege the other driver, Michael J. Walenciej, no age listed, 322 Churchway St., told them he “possibly crossed the centerline” and hit the other vehicle. Walenciej was cited for driving left of center, police said. The other driver told police he thinks his hand was broken and will seek medical attention.

He said while they were grappling another man walked up and kicked him in the stomach. The two were still in the parking lot and when police spoke with them they blamed the caller. The man who was shoved said he’d approached the man to talk about a disagreement at a well pad site and that’s when the caller shoved him. The other man denied kicking the caller. Both of them claimed the caller caused the fight, as did a bystander. The caller wanted to pursue charges against the pair but police said that due to conflicting statements, they were sending the information to the prosecutor’s office for review.

He said he was already looking for somewhere else to live.
