Police said when they spoke with him they saw “glass all over the kitchen floor and a large mirror that was tipped over” and report the male told them she became upset over “personal matters” and threw a wooden chair at him. He said he was able to block the chair, then she tried to throw the mirror at him but he also got out of the way of that. He claims she then “ripped clear glass dishes out of the cupboard” and then left. He wants her charged with criminal mischief.
Staking claim: A woman was found in a work vehicle belonging to Froehlich’s, Sunday. The owner said he came outside and found the woman sitting in the van with the door locked and refusing to get out, but he was able to get it open. Police said when they asked her to get out, she continued to “look forward and would not answer” and said they detected “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle.” Police said they got her out of the vehicle, but she “had difficulty maintaining her balance and could not stand up” and claimed she’d been drugged but did not know where she was nor who she was with.” To ensure she didn’t hurt herself officers had her lie on the ground to await the arrival of Steubenville EMS and report she “began making a snoring noise, which is common with an opioid overdose” and said she responded positively to Narcan.

An officer leaving another call heard a loud bang and, believing it was a collision, began patrolling the 700 block of Woodlawn Road looking for damage when he was flagged down by a bystander who reported a silver sedan had struck an unoccupied gray F-150 pickup and kept going. The side bumper, taillight and fender of the pickup were damaged, police said. Another officer enroute to the location had stopped a motorist in a silver Hyundai who’d forgotten to turn her headlights on and when police checked that vehicle, they reported finding heavy damage to its passenger side fender and door and a “Ford” sticker wedged in the door jam. The resident said he was “catching ‘flack’ from the students after he told them they could not park there.” Police told the older man that “if he had concerns about parking, he needed to call the department and “not follow people and scream at them.” He’d said he had called the department earlier to complain about “students walking in groups on the sidewalk in front of his residence,” which police note is a public thoroughfare and therefore not against the law.
