Came back for more: A man who allegedly had caused problems at Wendy’s and was asked to leave returned and caused more issues, leading to him being charged, Sunday. Employees initially asked police to remove Kyle C. Gordon, 30, 260 Lawson Ave., Apt. C, Steubenville, and a female juvenile from the restaurant. The two left, and after officers gave the juvenile a ride home, they were asked to return to the eatery because Gordon had shown up and was “yelling and causing a disturbance.” Police said Gordon was taken to the Jefferson County jail, where he was issued a summons for criminal trespassing.
Gassed: A couple who ran out of gas on Tweed Avenue said a juvenile and another individual “came down the street and jumped” them, Sunday. The couple told police they’ve been having trouble with the juvenile’s family who think the two had stolen from them during a recent move but said he doesn’t want to file charges. The juvenile and his friend told police the male “was calling them names” so they “walked down the street and started an altercation.”
Being bothered: A delivery driver said she’s being harassed by a customer, Sunday. She said she delivered a customer’s order but whoever packaged it failed to include some of the items the customer had requested, so she accused the delivery driver of stealing them, then posted Ring camera footage of the driver on Facebook. The driver said she reached out to the customer to help her file a claim with the store and notified store management to advise them of the error, but said the customer “is continuing to post about her on Facebook and she is receiving numerous friend requests from individuals she doesn’t know.” Police explained to the driver how to obtain a protection order.

Loose tongues: A caller told deputies a man at the Beehaven Apartments in Rayland had “almost struck multiple people with his vehicle,” Sunday. Deputies said when they located the man, he told them everyone involved was questioning his character. He said he and a female “got into a screaming match in each others’ face,” and then the others “began making statements about how he does not see his kids, which caused him to call them a derogatory term. He said he never took a swing any of them but he did punch a tail light, which caused him to bleed, and was trying to leave when the woman “ran up to the driver’s side when he was backing out and punched him on the left side of his face.” He said he then drove off “to get away from them” but he does want to pursue charges. No further information was available.
Cracked up: An Empire resident said a man came to his home, “knocked on his door and pulled a gun on him saying (he) took his work,” but when deputies entered his home to make sure the man was no longer there they allegedly found “a couple of pipes laying on the end table next to the chair burned on the ends appearing to be pipes used to smoke illegal narcotics” and several lighters laying around as well as a small scale with a white powder on it, Sunday. The homeowner initially said he was sleeping on the couch when a man he knew from years ago “when he used drugs” knocked on his door, “yelling about him taking work from him and he did not know what he was talking about.” He said the man “pulled out a gun and first stated he was going to ‘beat him’ with it … then pointed it at his face and told him he wanted his money. He said the gun was a “black, semi-automatic and believed it was a 9 mm” so he “walked out on to his porch and kept walking, scared the man was going to shoot him. He said he never looked back so he didn’t know where the intruder went.” But after deputies located the paraphernalia, he admitted the two of them had “hung out for a few hours smoking crack … and stated ot of nowhere the man wanted paid for the crack they both smoked.” He said he’s on a fixed income “and was not paying for drugs the man smoked, and that is when the gun came out.” He said the other man was not his drug dealer and still claimed he didn’t know the man’s name. Deputies spoke with an individual sitting outside who reported seeing a man at the neighbor’s property earlier in the night who was making (the caller) nervous,” while the man whose home he’d taken refuge in said “he did not know who might have done (it.)” He said his neighbor “is high all the time and it is hard to tell who he was talking about.” He said he didn’t see anyone before the man came “beating on his door” and no one had heard a car coming or leaving, either.
Finger pointing: A caller reported someone messing with security cameras outside a Wintersville area business, Saturday. The man the caller believed was involved told police he and a female companion had grabbed something to eat and sat outside a nearby business to eat it. They said when they finished eating they left and didn’t mess with anything, and police advised them to just stay away from the property. They relayed the information to the caller, who said the man had “flipped off the camera” and wants the pair to stay off the property.
Playing games: A suspicious male was seen walking around a home on county Road 19, Sunday. Deputies said security footage showed a group of juveniles had been in the area and were seen walking on county Road 19 toward state Route 151. With the help of Wells Township police, deputies located juveniles at a residence on township Road 184 who admitted they’d been “ding-dong-ditching.” Family members picked the kids up or arranged rides home.
Cause for alarm: Callers were concerned about man walking toward township Road 426 who was carrying a rifle, Friday. He turned out to be an area resident who “got lost hunting in the woods” so he followed the powerline to get out, knowing it would bring him near his home.
Drinking games: An Adena woman said she and her boyfriend had “been drinking and got into a dispute and she asked him to leave but he wouldn’t,” Sunday. He advised he was going to wait outside for them but was gone when deputies arrived. When the female finally came to the door, she said he “was being mean” but nothing physical had occurred.
Stranger danger: A Dillonvale resident saw a strange vehicle at a neighboring property and was concerned someone was removing items from an unoccupied home, Sunday. Deputies spoke with the man running the company, who said he is hired by third parties to empty properties out and was just getting his trailer in position to get started early the next morning. They relayed the information to the caller, who said the man had “flipped off the camera” and wants the pair to stay off the property.
