Armed and dangerous: An argument involving neighbors in the 200 block of North 10th Street escalated to the point that both told police they felt threatened, Sunday. Police said one party was on the phone when they arrived, describing him as “extremely agitated” and said he told them he “needed to calm down before talking to (them.)” Police said the other parties involved, a male and female, told them their brother had been outside with the dog when the neighbor, who they said regularly complains to the landlord, came out of his home and approached them. They said the neighbor was “being argumentative” so they responded in kind and as he became more agitated, they eventually told him to leave but he refused, arguing “it wasn’t their property.” The resident said his gun had been holstered the entire time but when the arguing intensified, the neighbor saw it and “threatened to go to his house and get his (weapon.)” The homeowner said he never removed his gun from its holster and had stepped back in his house when the neighbor came out on his porch with a long rifle. The neighbor told police he thought the brother “was looking at him strangely” and told him to be more friendly, then came to the sidewalk to talk with them but “they became argumentative.” He said they told him to get off their property but they don’t own it so he stayed there. Police said he told them “he felt ore threatened because (the other man) was carrying a gun” so he went home to get his “to show them he had a gun (too).” He said he never left his porch. A neighbor not involved in the dispute said both parties “were mutually aggressive.” They were all instructed to avoid further contact and advised how to obtain a civil protection order.

He said he didn’t know the neighbors’ names but said the man had “threatened to beat him up and get his sister to beat up his wife” and was concerned for their safety. Police said the other man didn’t answer the door when they knocked but when they saw him walking denied threatening the other couple. He said the caller’s girlfriend “was banging on his door about a parking issue” so he asked the caller to get her to stop. He said they argued but insisted he “did not threaten him at all.”

When they pulled up police said the woman got out of her car to tell them she’d been arguing with a male earlier, but he’d already left the area.

Causing problems: Callers reported “subjects possibly fighting” in a building in the 100 block of North Fourth Street, Sunday. Police located a couple engaged in an argument with a third party, all three of them advising it was strictly verbal. The three of them were advised to avoid each other.
