Free rooms offered to hospital patients’ families

WEIRTON — In the spirit of community support and holiday generosity, the Holiday Inn Weirton-Steubenville Area is providing complimentary guest rooms to the families of those hospitalized over the holidays, hotel officials have said.

Families of patients at Trinity Health System and WVU Medicine-Weirton Medical Center are invited to spend Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving night, Christmas Eve, and Christmas night — free of charge — at the hotel. Families will be able to stay for one or two nights.

“Genuine hospitality is more than a service; it is a commitment to supporting our local community when they need it most,” said Brad Degenkolb, director of sales and marketing for the Holiday Inn Weirton-Steubenville Area. “No one should have to be alone during the holidays, and for those who can’t make it home for the holidays, we’ll help bring their homes to them.”

“We are profoundly grateful and deeply appreciate the Holiday Inn Weirton-Steubenville Area’s exceptional generosity this holiday season,” said Laurie Labishak, director of marketing and communications for Trinity Health System. “This compassionate initiative perfectly embodies our mission to make the healing presence of God known in our world by improving the health of the people we serve, especially those who are vulnerable. For families with loved ones in our care over Thanksgiving and Christmas, the opportunity to stay close without the added financial burden is an invaluable comfort. It truly highlights the strength of our community partnership, ensuring our patient families feel supported and cared for during what can be a very challenging time.”

“We appreciate the Holiday Inn Weirton-Steubenville Area for keeping our patients and their families in mind this holiday season,” said Kelli McCoy on behalf of WVU Medicine-Weirton Medical Center. “Acts of kindness like this offer meaningful support to those facing health concerns.”

It’s an important gesture to the community, hotel officials added.

“The Holiday Inn brand has always been about being there for our guests and our community, and there is no more important time to be a support system than during the holidays,” said Brandy Wenner, general manager of the Holiday Inn Weirton-Steubenville Area. “The holidays can be a very stressful time, especially when someone you love is ill. We hope that being close by will alleviate much of that stress and enable our guests to more fully enjoy this special time of year.”

Families who are eligible and would like to reserve a room can call (304) 723-5522 or e-mail brad@holidayinnweirton.com. Rooms are based on availability. The Holiday Inn Weirton-Steubenville Area is located at 350 Three Springs Drive.
