Steubenville Police

Back draft: Callers reported a man “running around naked” in the area of Claire and Lawson avenues, Tuesday. He couldn’t be found when police checked the area.

Bottoms up: A woman visiting family in the 700 block of Market Street “became highly intoxicated and was unaware of her surroundings, Tuesday. Police attempted to help her home but report she “was unable to stand” so she was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Driver charged: A Mingo Junction man is facing multiple charges after police allegedly found a revolver with the serial number ground off and a piece of folded-up foil with a white powder residue believed to be fentanyl, Tuesday. Police said Michael Bertine, 41, 114 Benita Drive, was charged with possessing a defaced firearm, possession of drugs and having weapons under disability after he was spotted slumped over the steering wheel of a pickup with the engine running in the 300 block of South Hollywood Boulevard. Police said he woke up when they opened the door of his truck, appearing responsive and coherent, and told them he was waiting for the bank to open. They claim a hypodermic needle with blood in it, a tourniquet, the folded-up foil and other items were in plain view so he was taken into custody and the vehicle was searched.

Shifting load: A driver was cited after eight metal mail racks fell from his tractor-trailer and blocked travel in the southbound lane of state Route 7 between Washington and South streets, Wednesday. Police said Robert L. Bender, 69, 28 Mistletoe Lane, New Cumberland, was cited for unsecured load when he returned to Steubenville after making a delivery in Cranberry.

Cited: Michael M. Zeiler, 67, 49400 Murray Road, Hopedale; Claudia R. Chen, 22, North Kingstown, R.I.; Joseph D. Krall, 22, Lexington Park, Md., and Martin Sohovich, 68, 704 St. Clair Ave., Mingo Junction, all for speeding; Dorthy L. June Brown, 32, 1426 Belleview Blvd., driving under suspension. Also, a vehicle parked in the 1200 block of Maryland Avenue that hadn’t moved since Friday was towed; owners of two vehicles criss-cross parked in the 500 block of Ross Street as well as a third parked on the sidewalk all were cited.

Charged: Robert H. Gabbert, 41, 28 Glass Lane, Wellsburg, driving under the influence, Friday.

Charged: Ashlyn M. Allen, 31, 406 Coss Road, Wellsburg, child neglect creating risk of injury, Saturday.

Charged: Charles L. Holden Jr., 47, 98 10th St., Wellsburg, possession of a controlled substance, Saturday.

West Virginia State Police

Charged: Brandon J. Kittle, 29, 902 Yankee St., Wellsburg, driving under the influence, left of center, using cell phone while driving and possession of a controlled substance, Friday.

Charged: Shawn M. Lonchar, 47, 3836 Marlamont Way, Weirton, driving while suspended and possession of a controlled substance, Saturday.

Wellsburg Police

Charged: Francis E. Shriver, 49, 58 27th St., driving while suspended, no registration, petit larceny, receiving stolen goods and conspiring, Saturday.
