Two women, two stories: A resident in the 3900 block of Stratford Boulevard was reportedly assaulted during an altercation with another woman, Saturday. The homeowner said she’d asked the other woman to drop food off to her and she ended up staying there, and when she finally asked her to leave the woman refused, then stood over her. She said she started recording on her phone and the other woman “smacked (it) from her hands,” then began punching her in the side of the head and threw a small space heater at her” so she called her boyfriend, who then scuffled with the woman before he left himself to go to work. Police said the homeowner had red marks on both sides of her face, but she didn’t want to pursue charges and only wanted the woman to leave her home. When they talked to the other female, police said she admitted the altercation with the homeowner “became physical” but claimed it was only after she was pushed and denied throwing the heater at the homeowner. She claims the homeowner’s boyfriend “came from behind her and started hitting her while she wasn’t looking” and wanted to pursue charges, but the prosecutor will make that decision.
Bothered: A Euclid Avenue resident reported being harassed by individuals in a white car with a temporary tag and said she fears for her life, Friday. She said her tormenters are younger and have been yelling slurs from across the street, but when she told police “if they were to come back to her residence she would shoot them, they told her “a simple harassment report is not cause for taking someone’s life” and said she was “made aware she is not to resort to such violence.”
Dropping off: A Ridge Avenue resident was concerned because a roofing company was throwing debris on her property, Saturday. Police said workers were still removing shingles from a neighboring property and while there was some debris on the sidewalk and the woman’s porch, they also had tarps placed on the walkway. They told police they would be cleaning the mess up once they were done removing the shingles.
Fraudulent activity: A Market Square resident discovered someone has been syphoning money out of her bank account, Saturday. She told police more than $3,200 was missing from her Chime account and displayed paperwork showing them someone got in her account and sent money to individuals identified as “Shawn Joseph” and “Wayne Sooter” in Florida.
Dogged: A possible breaking and entering was reported in the 300 block of Westwood Drive, Saturday. The homeowner said when he tried to use his front door it was stuck and he had to force his way in. Once inside he said he found two windows in the rear of the property had been damaged and the screen had been removed “and appeared to have a hole cut into it.” The owner said a sliding door had not been closed completely and he believed he had shut it prior to leaving his home the evening before. Police said there was damage to the door where he’d forced entry to his home and nothing was believed missing, and report “there were no marks to indicate forced or attempted forced entry. They said the damage to the window frame resulted in small pieces of wood falling to the floor, which appeared to be consistent with damage caused by an scratching or chewing on the wood with similar marks on the screen, and said the area where the windows are located is elevated and would have required a ladder to access. Police also said the hole in the screen wasn’t large enough for anyone to climb through.
Causing problems: A man who’d been asked to leave Beacon House had to be removed from a property the 600 block of Ross Street two hours later, Friday. Police said the man and a friend left the area when asked.
