Steubenville Police
Spider man: A city resident who tried several times to climb the fire escape at a North Fourth Street property where he’d been banned was taken into custody on multiple charges, Tuesday. Police said Lee Becket, 41, no fixed address, was booked on a criminal trespass charge along with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after they allegedly found a locked box containing needles and other drug paraphernalia, including a white, crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine, as well as a broken crack pipe, a digital scale and a cut straw, all with residue. Police reported finding six individual plastic bags each containing about .5 grams of the alleged contraband.
Dogged pursuit: An Oak Grove resident told police he fired a shot into the ground to scare off a dog that previously attacked a juvenile was charging him, Tuesday. The dog’s owner insisted It was indoors all afternoon and a witness to the incident “refused to answer the door,” police said.
Charged: John J. Canella, 45, Canton Road, Wintersville, misdemeanor theft, Monday. Employees at Wal-Mart alleged Canella left the store without paying for all of the merchandise he’d bagged. They said he’d purchased one bottle of liquor but claimed he put another in a plastic bag he had with him. Canella denied the allegation, telling police he’d purchased both bottles and showed them a receipt, though police said it was only for a bag of salad valued at less than $3. Police claim Canella told them he had family issues on his mind and may have forgotten to pay for all of the items.
Cited: A juvenile seen “purposely sliding and driving erratically with no regard for public safety” in the former Macy’s parking lot at the Fort Steuben Mall was cited for reckless operation; Imunique Terry, 29, 133 Welday Ave., Steubenville, driving under suspension; Steven Karenbauer, 41, 536 Lincoln Blvd., Steubenville, expired plates.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to the owners/occupants of properties at 1305 Jefferson St., tires and automobile parts piled in rear of property; 136 Wildon Ave., black trash bags in back yard; 1324 Wellesley Ave., old broken chairs, carpet, mattress and a pile of junk in the back yard; 1306 Park St., pile of garbage in back yard;
Cited: Isabella Remedios, 21, Olney, Md., failure to yield (left turn) and expired license after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday at Sunset Boulevard and Lovers Lane. Both vehicles had heavy, disabling damage, police said.

Anger management: A female motorist at mile marker 21 on state Route 7 was “shouting out of her window at passing motorists,” Tuesday. Deputies said they explained to her “the importance of operating her vehicle safely and informed her of the hazardous road conditions.”
Injured: A woman was transported to Trinity Medical Center West after her vehicle rolled onto its side by a ditch and an embankment on state Route 7, Tuesday. Deputies said they remained with the woman until she was removed from the vehicle and Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived to handle the crash report.
Car creeper: A man who’d been visiting family in Yorkville said as he left town he saw a man wearing a gray hoodie, orange shorts and crocs “attempting to get into three cars on Walter Street,” Friday. Deputies were unable to locate the man.
