Bizarre: Police found an “erratic and uncooperative” male with a bloody chest and equally uncooperative woman sporting a black eye and red marks on her neck when they arrived at a disturbance in Fort Steuben Apartments, Friday. Dispatchers said when the 9-1-1 call came in they could hear “screaming in the background” and said the female “was being uncooperative” and, minutes later, a second call came in, this time the male involved had a gun. Police said the male “was bleeding from the chest” but was behaving erratically and refused to cooperate, saying only that “he was leaving and he did not need assistance.” They said he had an open wound in the center of his chest and his waistband was soaked in blood. Police said the female “was also being uncooperative and pacing around the room,” telling them to “just let (the man) leave because she wasn’t pursuing charges and she wasn’t going to cooperate, though she did tell police she “stabbed (the man) in self-defense.” She said the altercation started at the laundromat and at one point he “held a gun to her head and told her to get in the car,” then once they were at her residence she claimed he “struck her in the face several times, (then) grabbed her by the neck and threw her down” so she grabbed a kitchen knife to fend him off and ended up stabbing him. Police said there, “were obvious signs of a struggle with a Christmas tree knocked over, with pine needles (everywhere) and blood in several (places) on the floor.” A broken kitchen knife was on a mattress, and she confirmed she’d used it on the man but still declined to press charges. While they were talking to her police said the woman “appeared to pass out and fall on the floor, hitting the back of her head” on the floor. When she regained consciousness she still refused to cooperate even after police expressed their concerns for her safety. The male did not live with the woman and they were not in a relationship, and police said he left in the car he’d arrived in and told police he was going to the hospital. The female left with a family member. No handgun was located.
