Steubenville Police
Rite stuff: Employees at Speedway said a lottery customer was upset when he was asked to “write the numbers (he wanted) down instead of shouting them out,” Wednesday. They said when they handed him the paper to fill out he “shoved (them) back…and became enraged and said he would see (the employee) again” before leaving the store. They gave police the man’s name and said they’d had problems with him before and would prefer he not return.
Booked: Two Toronto men were booked into the Jefferson County Jail without bond after a traffic stop in the 200 block of North Seventh Street, Wednesday. The driver, Thomas E. Beaver Jr., 51, 717 N. River Ave., was booked into the county jail on Steubenville Muncipal Court warrants alleging criminal trespass, theft and contempt of court, while his passenger, Lance J. Vance, 53, 811 Market St., was charged with possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. Police allege that when they told Vance to exit the vehicle, he “grabbed for items in the vehicle” before tossing a zippered case into the back. A used meth pipe and a small bag containing what appeared to be “clear, glass-like shards” of a substance believed to be methamphetamine” were ound in the case, police allege.
Cited: Jarvinson J. Martinez, 33, New York, speeding (school zone); Wendy S. Carmine, 64, 141 Powell Ave., Steubenville, expired registration; the owner of a vehicle with expired plates blocking the roadway in the 800 block of Lawson Avenue was ticketed and towed.
