Steubenville Police

Staking a claim: A Ridge Avenue resident told police a female not known to them was “standing on the porch and refusing to leave,” Monday. The woman was sitting on a porch swing when police arrived and told them she was waiting for a ride. They told her she was on private property, and the homeowner wanted her to leave, so she did.

Hit-skip: A resident in the 400 block of North Seventh Street reported hearing a loud crash outside her home, Sunday. Later in the day she discovered her car had been hit. Police said there was heavy damage to one of her rear doors and a tire was deflated.

Loading up: A male shoplifter who left Wal-Mart in a gray Toyota without paying for items he’d stuffed in a pink backpack, Monday. Employees told police he also unboxed a large black ONN speaker before he fled. The speaker alone was valued at $129, employees said.

Peering in cars: Callers reported seeing two women “looking in car windows” in the 1200 block of Wellesley Avenue, Tuesday. Police said the women were from Bridgeport and said they were looking for a friend but couldn’t give police a name. One of the woman had “obviously been drinking” and admitted as much, the other was “very annoyed they had been stopped and (was) confrontational with officers,” police said. There was no evidence the pair had been trying to break into cars and after the confrontational woman passed a field sobriety test to ensure she hadn’t indulged they were allowed to leave.

Threat reported: A female in the 2300 block of Chestnut Street reported being threatened with a BB gun and finding peanut butter on her door handles, Monday.

Booked: Joshua Vein, 38,804 Daniels St., Toronto, contempt of court (Toronto county court), Tuesday. Vein also was charged with possession of drugs after a bag containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine was found hidden in his sleeve, police said.

Booked: A woman was booked into the Jefferson County jail without bond after a random registration check during a traffic stop on Sunset Boulevard, Monday. Police said Shyann N. Skinner, 22, 601 Two Ridge Road, Apt. F11, Wintersville, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia and also served with a warrant for grand theft while the driver, Jessica Levite 39, 601 Two Ridge Road, Wintersville, was cited for possession of drugs, expired plates and driving under suspension. Police reported seeing a white rock-like substance believed to be crack on the passenger seat when Skinner exited the vehicle, and claim she became “upset and uncooperative” when they advised her they had probable cause to search her. Two small bags containing a substance believed to be fentanyl and two other bags containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine were found in Skinner’s possession along with a small pouch containing some crack pipes, police said.

Booked: Jana E. Kizito, 42, 1502 Ridge Ave., failure to appear, Sunday.

Summons: Brent M. Staudacher, 36, 114 Christoper Ave., Wintersville, three warrants alleging misdemeanor theft, Monday.

Cited: Sophia L. Coffin, 20, Mission Viejo, Calif., speeding and expired registration; Erica A. Deuley, 33, 236 Pico St., Steubenville, red light violation; Lakin Burch, 19, 312 Reserve Ave., Steubenville, failure to yield after a two-car collision Monday on Sunset Boulevard at Richland Street.
