Jefferson County Sheriff
A county resident said she and her husband are terrified by a neighbor they believe to be unstable, March 9. She said they’ve always been nice to him because of his “problems” but he’s been “coming onto their property uninvited and looking through (their) windows.” The caller said the neighbor “is a big conspiracy theorist and believes helicopters circle his pastures and…drop snakes to kill turkeys” and that the electric and gas companies “are all out to get him,” The caller said in the past he’s threatened to shoot their dogs if they go on his property. She said one of them was out “running the farm” recently and never returned and figures he shot the dog. They don’t want him to come on their property again. Deputies said the neighbor readily admitted shooting the dog, complaining their dogs are always loose and barking and chase his cows.
Dogged: A Bloomingdale resident said his dog got loose and when it returned home had “what appeared to be a human pelvic bone in (its) mouth,” March 7. After inspecting it deputies determined “it was most likely a bone from a cow.”
Gone: A woman in Yorkville claimed her son had “locked out of her car after kicking her and is now attacking his sister” March 6. Deputies went to the location she’d given them and were unable to locate the car she had described and bystanders said they hadn’t seen any kind of disturbance.
