Creeper: A county resident said she received a call Sunday from a man claiming he was watching her and knew everything about her, then allegedly began listing personal details. She said she started recording the call, and when the caller realized it, he told her to stop. She contacted her boyfriend, who told deputies he grabbed his guns and checked her home and property to make sure no one was there. The boyfriend said he attempted to call the number back but hung up after hearing a male voice answer.
Making sense: A county resident who suspected her husband was using drugs instead discovered he had been talking to other women on Tinder, leading to an argument Saturday. She told deputies the dispute escalated and he took her belongings and drove down the road “throwing them out of the vehicle.”
Tit-for-tat: A Tiltonsville resident was “crying hysterically” when she called for assistance Monday. Her male companion told deputies she was intoxicated and broke a window, so he broke her windshield in return. Deputies said both parties stated the alleged offenses occurred in Belmont County and neither wanted to pursue charges.
Do-it-yourself repo: A woman reported Sunday that her ex took her car, placed it in his garage and refused to return it. The ex told deputies he paid for the vehicle and “only put it in her name because he didn’t have a valid license.” Deputies advised him he would have to return the car because the title was in her name.
Stolen: Equipment valued at $700 to $800 was reported stolen overnight Saturday from an excavation site on private property in the Hammondsville area. Workers told deputies they had left tools used to excavate preserved fossils from cannel coal under a tarp, but when they returned Sunday the items were missing.
Burning up: A Cadiz Road resident complained Saturday that his ex was destroying his property. She told deputies he had “burned her clothes on TikTok,” which angered her so much that she “ripped his air conditioner out of the window.” He declined to file charges and told deputies he only wanted her to leave.
Neighbor issues: A Rayland man told deputies Saturday that he believes his neighbor intentionally has been driving through his yard. He said the two have been involved in an ongoing dispute.
Steubenville Police
Moving on: A woman requested assistance Monday at a Cunningham Lane residence, though 911 dispatchers reportedly could not understand her because her speech was slurred. Police said the woman appeared intoxicated but explained she was moving out and waiting for a ride from Columbus. She told officers she had been arguing with a male resident and wanted police to stand by while she gathered her belongings and placed them in the driveway. The male resident told police she had “been drinking all morning” and arguing with him. Officers advised the pair to avoid each other until her ride arrived.
Threat reported: Police were told Monday that a man threatened harm to a city resident and her pet.
Booked: A man reported to be “acting strangely” at a bank Monday was taken into custody after police discovered he had an active warrant. Damion N. Irizzary, 50, no fixed address, was booked into the jail on a bench warrant issued by Steubenville Municipal Court.
Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners or occupants of properties at 1232 Sinclair Ave., 1235 Sinclair Ave., 1283 Sinclair Ave., 805 Lincoln Ave., 1246 Ridge Ave., 1257 Lincoln Ave., 2510 Sunset Blvd., 1304 Ridge Ave., 1659 Ridge Ave., 1150 Oregon Ave., 1321 Oregon Ave. and 1502 Foster Place, all for high grass violations. Additional notices were issued for 390 Westwood Dr. for discarded materials, scrap metal and vehicles parked in the backyard; 2623 Cherry Ave. for high grass, household garbage scattered in the front yard and discarded items piled near the driveway; and 1605 Lincoln Ave. for high grass and discarded household items stored on the front porch and driveway.
