Busick receives Wheeling University teaching award

WHEELING — Dr. Teresa Busick, program lead for the Bachelor of Science in Psychology program at Wheeling University, is the recipient of the 2026 Rev. Edward Gannon, S.J. Outstanding Teaching Award.

The award is presented annually at commencement to recognize a faculty member for excellence in teaching and scholarship during the academic year. Recipients also are selected for exemplifying the Catholic tradition of service to the university and the broader community.

Busick, a resident of Steubenville, Ohio, began teaching at Wheeling University in 2019 as an adjunct instructor in the psychology department. She became a full-time faculty member in 2021. She also serves as coordinator of Research Day.

“It is an incredible honor to receive this distinguished award,” Busick said. “I am grateful to my peers and the Student Government Executive Board for nominating me, and I thank the Alumni Council for choosing me as this year’s recipient.”

Busick said she is grateful for the opportunity to work with students daily.

“Wheeling University is more than a workplace to me — it is a community that feels like family. It has provided an environment where I have been able to grow as an educator, clinician and leader. I view my role not simply as a profession, but as a calling to serve students by supporting their academic, personal and professional development,” she said.
