Facing charges: A city resident is facing charges after authorities allegedly found fentanyl, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cash in his home Wednesday. Police said detectives with the Jefferson County Drug Task Force booked John Samuel Powell, 37, 1418 Pennsylvania Ave., Steubenville, into custody on two felony counts of drug possession, possession of paraphernalia and possession of drug abuse instruments. City police and the special response team assisted with the search.
Returned: A Lincoln Boulevard resident told police a woman showed up at her home Tuesday and “began screaming and cursing in the street and throwing objects at the house” before fleeing into the woods. The homeowner said it was the second time the woman has tried to vandalize the residence.
Got physical: A disturbance was reported Wednesday in the 400 block of Union Avenue, where a man admitted he and his girlfriend were in an altercation. He said he learned she was messaging other men and when she slapped him, he slapped back. He said she stuck her finger in his eye, and police reported it was “extremely red and irritated,” but he did not want to pursue charges and said the issue had been resolved. Police said she was reluctant to talk but said he had held her down so she hit him and claimed the finger poke was “accidental.”
Juveniles: Juveniles were seen in an abandoned property in the 1000 block of Claire Avenue Wednesday, but when police knocked on the front door they exited through the back. Officers located one of the juveniles, spoke with him and returned him home to his guardian.
Disturbance: A woman told police her live-in boyfriend found photos of other men on her phone Wednesday and allegedly grabbed a butcher knife, used it to cut a table and threatened her.
Not wanted: A South 5th Street resident said she and her brother argued and she wanted him to leave her home Wednesday. She told police she did not want him to return. Shortly after, police were told a man was refusing to leave a property in the 1800 block of Sinclair Avenue. Police offered him a ride to the hospital or city limits, and he chose city limits but then refused to exit the cruiser. He was taken back to the station and ordered out.
Charged: Otis Eugene Allen, 49, no fixed address, criminal trespass. A caller reported Allen refused to leave a Seventh Street property Wednesday and responded with “vulgar language” when asked multiple times to leave after allegedly bothering customers. Also charged: Nash P. Dehnart, 29, 423 Rosemont Ave., Steubenville, petit theft. Dehnart allegedly left Walmart without paying for two cases of pop and two electrical chargers valued at just under $189; Derrick Nesbitt, 65, 833 Oakmont Ave., Steubenville, domestic violence.
Booked: John D. Wright, 55, 205 Eleanor St., Mingo Junction, rape, domestic violence, sexual imposition and intimidation Wednesday.
Summons issued: Peggy McCort, 45, 451 N. Main St., Apt. J1, Cadiz, petit theft.
Code issues: A notice of violation was sent to the owners or occupants of 1344 Oak Grove Ave. for a refrigerator, tires, lawn tractors and other household discards in the front yard and additional household debris on the porch.
Cited: The owner of a large trailer parked on the street Tuesday without plates was cited after officers located him. He had a valid plate for the trailer but was ordered to move it and cited for improper parking.
JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
Road block: A caller reported two vehicles parked in the middle of Township Road 113 so the drivers could talk and said they were “refusing to move.” Dispatchers said they could hear a woman yelling in the background. Once deputies arrived, the woman said she had been threatened by a man she did not know because she was blocking the roadway. She said he could have easily gotten past her and denied any violation, saying she “wasn’t doing anything wrong.”
Pills missing: A Richmond resident reported someone stole his prescription Suboxone from a delivery Tuesday.
