Steubenville Police

Distressed: Passersby reported a man walking in the northbound lane of state Route 7 at the marina Tuesday, wandering in and out of traffic. Several callers said they had nearly struck him. Police located him walking toward the marina and determined he was in severe mental distress. He was taken to an area hospital, where EMS personnel learned he had been admitted the day before and released. Arrangements were made for him to go to a family member’s residence.

Money, money, money: Two men at an Oregon Avenue location were arguing Tuesday, prompting a caller to report the disturbance. Police learned the two “were having a family dispute” over money, but the men said all was well.

Fired up: A caller in the 800 block of Market Street reported a possible domestic disturbance Tuesday. The resident told police she had been arguing with her husband and repeatedly said she was OK and did not need assistance. Officers later returned after she was again arguing with her children. Police said they spoke with all parties and “helped resolve the issue for today.”

Jefferson County Sheriff

Shots reported: An Irondale-area resident reported hearing gunshots Wednesday. A caller reported hearing at least nine shots in rapid succession and spotted a vehicle with its lights on. Another resident reported hearing shots fired, and a family member later reported seeing a silver or gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup parked in the area and said the driver was believed to have a firearm in the vehicle. Deputies were unable to locate the pickup or driver. The owner of a nearby house that neighbors believed may have been involved said he did not hear gunfire and was not involved.

Booked: Kyla White, 43, Wellsville, warrant, Monday.
