Police Beat

Steubenville Police

Rolling along: A building at 4035 West Argonne Ave. was struck by a vehicle Monday. Police said the vehicle’s air brakes failed and it rolled down a small embankment, then struck a small porch on the west side of the house. No injuries were reported.

Hands tied: A domestic disturbance was reported in the 200 block of Cunningham Lane Sunday. A male present when they arrived “insisted nothing happened and wanted officers off the property,” but they told him they had to speak with the female involved first. Police said he continued to be argumentative and insisted nothing physical had occurred, but she appeared to have been crying but was on the phone and walked away. Neither of them had obvious injuries, police said.

Ongoing problem: A woman who gave her daughter’s friend a ride to her Sherman Avenue home Sunday said she stopped to talk to a friend when another woman “aggressively approached her vehicle.” She said her friend stepped between the aggressive woman and her car but “she pushed through the friend and slammed into the side of the (car)” and reported two new dents. She said she’s had ongoing problems with the woman, sayin she’s “repeatedly approached them in an aggressive and threatening manner.”

Detained: Four male juveniles were booked into the Juvenile Detention Center without bond on a burglary charge Monday after police were told there were individuals in a house in the 300 block of Terry Avenue “that were not supposed to be there.” Two boys were taken into custody as they exited the property and two others were located nearby, police said.

Charged: Samatha Bottegal, 38, 4030 Sunset Blvd., garage suite, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cited: A pedestrian walking in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue said a dog “ran from the residence” and attacked her Sunday. Julie Elder, 56, 1140 Lincoln Ave., Apt. D, Steubenville, dog-at-large.
