Bine joins Aim as client advocate
WITH THUMBNAIL: Angie Bine
STEUBENVILLE — Aim has named Weirton native Angela Bine as its new client advocate. In her role, Bine will support pregnant women and new mothers who choose Aim to help them through their pregnancies and their babies’ first year of life.
Imagine that you’re 19 years old, unexpectedly pregnant, have just broken up with your partner and are living on your own. Where do you turn for support? From whom can you seek guidance and relief?
Since 1987, Aim Women’s Center has been the answer for many women who find themselves in this exact situation. The nonprofit organization is committed to walking alongside women facing unexpected pregnancies with compassionate care, accurate information and practical support.
Key to Aim’s services is the client advocate, who accompanies each client through her pregnancy test and results and sonogram, and who provides mentorship and companionship throughout a woman’s entire pregnancy. Bine’s goal is to provide a calm anchor for women navigating unexpected or unplanned pregnancies.
“It’s critical to create a safe, judgment-free space where every woman feels deeply heard and supported,” she said.
Client advocacy includes services such as direct client support; communication and medication; problem-solving and coordination; monitoring and reporting and education and outreach.
Aim Executive Director Rebekah Cohen Morris said the role is vital to client success.
“The women we serve often are in dire situations when we first meet them,” she said. “Our client advocate must be flexible enough to meet women where there are, yet strong enough to help carry their heavy burdens. Angela is an experienced advocate who has immense compassion. We are fortunate to have her on the team,” she explained
Bine holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education. Throughout her professional career, she has been a dedicated advocate for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and their families, as well as children with complex medical needs. She has served as service coordinator at REM in Follansbee; supported employment coordinator at Partners for Quality in McKees Rocks, Pa.; supports coordinator at Familylinks in Pittsburgh; and most recently, manager of therapeutic programs at Pediatric Specialty Care in Aliquippa, Pa. She and her husband, Jeff, reside in Weirton with their three children.
