No names: A man told police a woman was yelling obscenities at him Wednesday in the 800 block of N. 6th Street. He said he didn’t know her name “but she had been staying with him the last two days.” He called back an hour later to report the woman was outside his door and would not leave. This time they were able to talk with the woman, who told police “she lived with him but could not tell (them) his name.”
Elevator fight: A woman told police she was assaulted by another female Wednesday in the elevator at JFK Apartments. The caller said her attacker was upset because she’d asked how her son was doing and “struck her on the head (while) her boyfriend was holding her down on the ground” so the female could attack her more. Police said her elbow was swollen but she’d been drinking. The other couple said they were waiting for the elevator when the caller ‘walked in front of her telling her that she had to hit the button for the elevator harder” and addressed her in a disparaging way. She said as they all got in the elevator the caller got into her face so she took a swing at her and when the fighting started her boyfriend tried to get between them to break it up.
Potty mouth: A woman walking on 5th at Market streets said a woman known to her “started yelling obscenities at her and challenged her to a fight” Tuesday. The caller said there’d been an incident between her mother and the woman trying to start the fight.
O-sightings: A man with whom police are familiar was sleeping in the lobby of a Johnson Road apartment building Wednesday and had to be asked to leave. Later he was asked to leave an apartment building in the 2600 block of Sunset Blvd., the doorway of a building in the 100 block of N. 5th Street and Beacon House.
Vigilante justice: A woman in the 700 block of Market Street tried to restrain a female she and a friend thought were involved in a drug deal Tuesday. She said she and her friend came outside to walk her dog when the dog spotted a drug deal in the parking lot and she grabbed the female by the hoodie to restrain her until police arrived. Police advised the vigilante woman she “could not hold people against their will” and said other female told them she wasn’t injured.
Causing problems: Callers reported a man exposing himself in the 200 block of N. 7th Street Tuesday. Police spoke with the male, with whom they are familiar, and advised him to go inside his residence for a while even though he was fully clothed when they arrived.
Tool time: A Woodland Avenue resident told police he left his tools on his back deck Sunday and by the following morning they were gone.
Tempers flare: A Lincoln Avenue man wanted a couple who’d been living in his garage for over a year removed from his property Tuesday because he’d argued with the male and the male threatened him. He admitted shoving the male back. Police told him he’d have to use the eviction process to get the couple out because they’d established residency.
Charges filed: A woman is facing charges after she allegedly overdosed Wednesday in the presence of two children in her care. Police said Monica M. Whittaker, 31, 952 Oxford Blvd., Steubenville, was charged with child endangerment and tampering with evidence. Firefighters told police a male had found the woman on the floor unresponsive and revived her with Narcan. An officer claimed he saw drug paraphernalia as well as two small bags of a white substance on a dresser in another room and said he went to retrieve evidence bags, only to return to find the contraband missing.
Booked: Kenneth Payne, 49, no fixed address, warrant (contempt of court), Tuesday.
