Good riddance: A Henry Avenue resident came home to find her house destroyed Wednesday and thinks her ex did it. She said she broke up with him three days earlier, he took it badly and called Child Protective Services on her. A CPS investigator was coming to her home the following day, and she believes he broke into her home. She had pictures of her TV broken, two holes in the wall, a ripped-up couch with dirty diapers stuffed inside, paint removed from the walls in several places and a broken window.
The female also had voice recordings of him "stating that he was destroying her house and that he'd broken in," as well as recordings "from him that sounded like loud bangs and items inside breaking" and calling her "derogatory names" and threatening to beat her "and he does not care what the police have to say about that." He also made comments "about spitting on her grave and...things he will tell their kids to say about her at the funeral," police said.
An hour later, police were called back to the residence because the ex returned, this time coming in the back door and taking the dog, striking her in the face before he left. Police said she had some redness on her face. The woman wants to pursue charges.
Anger issues: A city resident said she and her husband were arguing and he punched her and punched holes in her walls Wednesday. She said he also took her cellphone and tried to take her car keys, but she was able to stop him from leaving with them. Police said there were two fist-sized holes in two separate walls, and the female also had a bruise on her arm. She wants to pursue charges.
Copper thief: The owner of a Highland Avenue property reported break-ins Thursday. He said copper and wire had been stolen recently, so he boarded the property up, but neighbors called him to report "several males were around the property that they thought at first were workers." Police said the men "apparently were pulling open a boarded-up door."
Unbalanced: A business owner said Thursday an employee he'd fired several weeks ago has been posting derogatory messages and other untruths on social media several times a week. He said they'd tried to ignore the posts, but they'd become more aggressive, including "a live video that he was going to harm" his ex-boss that he immediately deleted. The ex-employee also posted a video of himself sitting outside the business while his boss was working.
Charged: Mary M. Smith, 61, 2533 Cleveland Ave., Steubenville, misdemeanor theft. Employees at Walmart allege Smith covered barcodes on merchandise in her cart with Kool-Aid packages and then scanned them.
Juvenile stuff: A S. Fifth Street resident said a woman was banging on her back door Thursday and would not leave. The homeowner said the woman was "banging on her door, trying to confront her over a juvenile problem that occurred at school" and showed police video footage of the woman outside her door yelling.
The homeowner said she wasn't interested in fighting and doesn't want the woman on her property. Police spoke with the other woman, who confirmed she was confronting her because their kids were having a problem at school. Police told her she isn't wanted on the property and if she comes back she'll be arrested.

Code issues: Notices of enforcement were sent to owners or occupants of properties at 1420 Euclid Ave., 397 Valley View Ave., 131 Buena Vista Blvd., 1524 Sunset Blvd. and 2816 Cleveland Ave., all for high grass; also 1105 Park St. for vehicle parts, tires, litter and trash on the property and high grass.

Overtime parking: A Pontiac G6 parked in the 1500 block of Euclid Avenue without moving for an extended period, a Volvo S70 parked in the 600 block of Belleview Boulevard and a Ford Focus parked in the 1600 block of Ridge Avenue were towed.
