STEUBENVILLE POLICE
Classy guy: A city resident grocery shopping with her juvenile son told police a man standing behind her "started threatening (him)," saying he was "going to get 'murked.'" She said when she stepped in and asked him what the problem was, the two of them began arguing. She said he appeared to be under the influence of drugs and left the store in an SUV.
Found out: A juvenile identified as the alleged driver of a silver sedan involved in a hit-and-run a week ago was cited Sunday. Police located a white sedan with damage consistent with the impact from the victim's vehicle.
Drugs: A possible overdose by a juvenile was reported in the city Monday. Police said the child was transported to Trinity West by Steubenville firefighters.
Driver, passenger arrested: Two men were taken into custody Friday in the 300 block of North Street. Police said the driver, Kelly Gensley, 58, 106 Locust St., Mingo Junction, was charged with driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia and was served with a warrant for failure to appear in Common Pleas Court. His passenger, Edward Rogers, 77, 3969 Stratford Blvd., Steubenville, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police reported finding a crack pipe in the driver's side door, and additional pipes were located in a bag by the center console. A bag of crack and another pipe were allegedly found in a bag where Rogers was sitting, police said.
He said no: Possible shots fired were reported at a residence in the 700 block of Broadway Boulevard Monday. Police spoke to a man who told them he'd been arguing with his girlfriend on the phone and said there was no evidence a gun had been used.
Ran away: A Spring Avenue property owner told police she'd seen a male in a residence she and her son own, but as she was calling police, he fled the scene Sunday. Police checked the area but didn't find him.
Pilfered: The owner of a property in the 1100 block of Oregon Avenue said he discovered "several things damaged" at the structure Friday. Police said the front window had a large crack and one side had been pushed in and the frame damaged. Two doors were damaged, and a bathroom sink, basin sink and copper pipes were stolen, he said.
Batty: A woman in the 400 block of Lincoln Boulevard needed help getting a bat out of the house Saturday.
Charged: Two Sparks delivery drivers are facing charges after Walmart employees reported having video footage allegedly showing them trying to leave the store without paying for items Saturday. The drivers, Tisha D. Silvers, 42, Fowler Hill Road, Wellsburg, and Brayden A. Wilson, 22, 4039 Washington St., Weirton, were each charged with theft. Employees claimed Silvers had merchandise valued at just under $6 and Wilson had merchandise valued at just over $20.
Walking in: A caller reported seeing a suspicious male walking into a property in the 1300 block of Arlington Avenue Sunday. Police located an open door and checked for anyone inside. They said it appeared abandoned and did not find anyone inside.
Too much: Police were told an "intoxicated female" was causing problems in the 700 block of Market Street Saturday. She was advised to return to her apartment for the night.
Parked: A couple parked at the rear of Jim Woods Park after hours Saturday was advised all city parks close at dusk and they needed to leave, which they did.
Breaking the rules: Two women were seen dumpster diving in the 100 block of N. Commercial Alley Saturday. Police advised them it's prohibited in the city but let them off with a warning.
Booked: Talia Sam Marie Schoonover, 36, 523 Highland Ave., Steubenville, warrant for probation violation (Sunday).
Charged: Tina German, 33, 1014 McKinley Ave., Steubenville, theft. Employees at Walmart told police they had footage of German trying to leave the store with merchandise she hadn't paid for Sunday. The merchandise recovered amounted to just over $100, police said.
Cited: A Weirton man was cited after a traffic stop at Seventh and Logan streets Friday. Police said Jason Rawson, 45, 49 Oriole Court, Weirton, was cited for no brake lights and no child restraint. Also, a white sedan with expired plates parked in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue was towed. Police said the registration expired in August. Kolbe G. Rice, 26, 1811 Hamilton Place, Steubenville, expired/unlawful plates.

Sobering: A caller reported a domestic disturbance involving his younger brother, his mother and her boyfriend Aug. 9. He said the older man "got in his face and was threatening him and then (mom) hit (the caller)." The mother also called in, "screaming and accusing (the younger boy) of being disrespectful" and claimed the caller gave him drugs.
The mother said they'd taken the boys to Sandcastle and when they got home both boys were disrespectful to her, so she shut off the Wi-Fi and denied smacking the younger of the brothers "but probably should have" and claimed the older boy sparked the confrontation with her boyfriend.
The older brother said his mother and her boyfriend had been drinking, which typically leads to them wanting to argue. She accused him of not doing anything around the house, so he told her he "does more than any of the men she brings around," which upset the boyfriend, who then "called him a loser and threatened to assault him."
Spiraling down: Deputies had to go to a home where a caller reported a man was "argumentative and belligerent" with family members at his home in the Bergholz area twice Sunday. On the first visit, they said the man showed "obvious signs of intoxication but (the dispute) to that point had only been verbal," though the caller said he'd "been throwing beer cans" at his wife and that at one point he "got into his truck and crashed it into another vehicle" belonging to his wife.
The second time they were called to the residence, deputies said the wife told them her husband had continued drinking "and had become increasingly belligerent" as time wore on. She said he started throwing beer cans but none of them hit her, though he did "pour an entire can of beer on her."
Deputies said she'd changed, but the clothes she'd been wearing were still "wet and smelled of beer," so she'd locked him outside but ended up letting him back in the house because he was pounding on the door and windows. She didn't want to pursue charges but admitted she was "simply tired of his arguments involving financial issues from 30 years ago" and said his drinking has "become excessive."
She said he'd started downing beers the day before and continued all through the night, so deputies pointed out his alcoholism "appeared to be escalating" and it didn't seem that he'd pursue treatment on his own. He ended up going to his mother's house for the night.
Speeding up the process: A Steubenville area resident said she got home from work only to find that her landlord shut her water off and cut the pipe under her residence Aug. 5. She said she was being evicted and had been given 14 days to vacate the premises.
Drugs: Medics revived an unresponsive female in Tiltonsville with two doses of Narcan Aug. 6.
Disruptive: A Toronto area resident said her boyfriend was using drugs and causing problems, then hung up Aug. 6. Dispatchers reported hearing "a lot of yelling in the background." She called back to cancel but was told deputies would have to come anyway. The male left before deputies arrived.
Removed: A man living on County Road 56 reported a motorbike stolen and another pushed into the weeds Aug. 6.
