Diving for dollars: A driver said a pedestrian who wanted to argue with him in the 900 block of N. 7th Street "threw himself to the ground" Thursday when he attempted to navigate around him, claiming he'd been hit. The pedestrian said he was crossing the street when the driver "stopped ...then yelled at him, veered to the left to go around him and then intentionally veered back to the right and struck him." Police checked camera footage and said they watched the driver proceeding south on 7 th Street stop before the crosswalk while the pedestrian and another man "stopped in the crosswalk in front of (the) vehicle." The driver moved to the left to go around them and "as he passes (the pedestrian, he) falls to the ground." Police said the vehicle "does not appear to veer back to the right toward (the pedestrian)" and from the camera angle, "it does not appear that (the pedestrian) was struck by the vehicle" and said it "also appears as if (the pedestrian) falls sideways and not forward after the vehicle passes him."
All in the family: A mother claimed her daughter assaulted her Wednesday and wanted her to leave the residence. She said her daughter and her children was upset because she repeated a slur someone else had said and claimed "her daughter jumped on her, then punched her in the head." Police said there was no redness suggesting she'd been struck and mom didn't want to pursue charges, but said her daughter and grandchildren had only been living with her for five days and she wanted them to leave. The daughter told police she was upset when her mother repeated the comment and claims mom took a swing at her but insisted she didn't try to hit her. She also said that before she called them, mom had been doing drugs.
Going for two: A Johnson Road residence needed assistance with a female family member who police say was "obviously intoxicated" Friday. He said she'd been picked up for operating a vehicle under the influence a couple hours earlier so he brought her to his house and had a friend drive her car home, but once there they argued because "his daughter had become irate (and) wished to leave the residence and wanted to drive." He said he had to physically restrain her and she began breaking things. Police spotted a broken mirror and a small end table on the ground. Dad didn't want to pursue charges but he "wanted her to calm down." Police told her it would be in her best interest if she settled down and luckily, a friend was able to take her home to her residence.
Interrupted: A caller reported a breaking and entering in the 200 block of S. 4th Street Thursday. A witness told police the would-be thieves were wearing hoods and had fled the scene, dropping two white bags in the alley.
Paranoid; An Arlington Avenue resident said someone put battery acid on her appliances and poison ivy on her curtains Thursday.
Way in: A strange man was reportedly jiggling door knobs on the 7th floor of the JFK building Friday. A resident told police the man said he was going to go to the 5 \th floor next. Police said he was nowhere to be found.
Confrontational: An employee at Enzo's wanted a man with a knife removed from the property Friday. Police spoke with the man, who laid the knife on the hood of a nearby vehicle to speak with them. He started telling them he'd stopped in to order a bottle of Peach Crown Royal and then stopped,
Hit-skipped: A woman in the 700 block of N. 6th Avenue said someone driving an RV hit her vehicle Thursday and handed her $500 in cash before leaving the scene. The victim said that wasn't enough to cover the actual damages and requested the rest of the money but the driver refused and left the scene. Walked close to the officer "and yelled in (his) face." They said he continued to "yell and act belligerent" when they told him he needed to leave the property and not return and a friend who'd come to drive him home decided not to "based on his behavior." Another friend walked him away.

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 623 Oxford Blvd., 803 Oxford Blvd., 1245 Ridge Ave., 1625 Ridge Ave., 1205 Pennsylvania Ave., 1207 Pennsylvania Ave., 1212 Pennsylvania Ave., 1527 Oregon Ave., 1525 Oregon Ave., 165 McDowell Ave., all high grass. Also, 1225 Ridge Ave., high grass, garbage piled on front porch.
Cited: Isaac M. Wilcox, 20, Shelbina, MO, assured clear distance ahead after a rear-end collision with no injuries Thursday in the 1400 block of University Boulevard; also Martin J. Hranek, 63, Escondido, CA, and Tanya D. Howard, 66, 815 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, speeding (school zone).

A Mingo Junction resident said a man had been texting her boyfriend that he was on his way to to fight him Sept. 23. Her boyfriend said it "all started over a hooker in the city that (he) was talking to who was also trying to hook up" with his acquaintance. He said he called his acquaintance to let him know "the girl was dirty and he shouldn't be messing with her" and the acquaintance "got really angry and started flipping out," telling him he was "going to drop off his drugs in Rayland and then he was coming to (their) house to snap his neck." The boyfriend thinks the other man is on drugs "due to how crazy he was acting."
Won't stop: A Christopher Avenue man said his ex is harassing him Sept. 21. He said he changed his phone number but she hacked into his email and got it so he changed it again and the harassment is emotional, not threatening. He said he'd filed for a restraining order but it hadn't been served.
Hanging on: A Steubenville area resident said a female keeps coming to her residence wanting a male who's friends with her roommate to come outside. The resident said the woman had been there twice that day. Deputies said the unwanted visitor told them her boyfriend's inside but they told her she needs to stay away.
Last call: A homeowner was unaware an underage party was going on at a residence on State Route 152, Richmond, Sept. 20. Deputies became aware of it when neighbors reported seeing kids sitting by the road. The homeowner said the kids could remain at the residence overnight and have their parents picked them up.
