POLICE REPORTS

STEUBENVILLE POLICE

Food fight: A woman unhappy with her food order refused to leave the restaurant Sunday. She told police she wanted her full purchase refunded "due to the poor food quality," complaining it was "soggy and cold." She said when she asked the business to redo her order, she was told it could take "40 to 50 minutes" and when the manager started arguing with her, "she just asked for a refund." The manager said she told the customer it would take 72 hours for the refund to process and the customer "kept most of the order and only wanted a couple items remade that totaled $17.98" so she told the customer she could issue the refund or she could take the food and leave. The customer said she "was not taking the food and believed the total amount should be refunded." They told the woman she’d have to take it to civil court and the manager wanted her trespassed from the property.

Bickering: Two men were arguing in a parking lot in the 400 block of S. 3rd Street Monday. One man claimed the other brandished a firearm, but police said they didn't find a weapon on him or his passenger. Police said they did find an airsoft pistol on the floorboard in the back of his car and the man told them he tossed it there in case employees at a nearby business looked out their window and thought he was truly armed. He said he doesn't know the caller and claimed as he was exiting, he pulled up his hood and the caller told him not to do that and "began to curse at him while calling him names." He said as he was pumping his gas the caller exited the store and got in his car but instead of leaving, the caller "stopped his vehicle near where he was pumping gas and began to argue with him again." He denied threatening the caller. The caller said he confronted the other man "over mocking his social media post," which started the argument. He said they were still arguing as he was trying to leave the lot and claimed the other man brandished the gun.

Grabbed: A patient at Trinity West allegedly grabbed a nurse by the throat as she was treating her Sunday. Police said she had some redness on the throat and told them she was advised she needed to file a report. The patient advised "her blood sugar dropped and she did not know what she was doing."

A vehicle was on its side on the State Route 7 southbound ramp onto Veterans Bridge Sunday. Once there, police said it was determined the accident "occurred outside of the city" and Ohio State Highway Patrol was called.

Cold: A homeless man cutting through the alley behind N. 5th Street said he tried to pickup a jacket he saw but an unknown male yelled at him.

On the loose: A Ross Street resident told police she found a toddler outside her residence wearing only a diaper Sunday afternoon. She called back to report mom "showed up and took the baby home.”

JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF

Walls have ears: A caller reported a disturbance at a Christopher Avenue building Saturday, but the resident of the apartment said she and her male companion have a newborn baby and all they did was argue. Deputies explained to the residents the walls are very thin, "so when they argue at 5 a.m., everyone here will hear."

Drafty: A motorist traveling on State Route 151 reported seeing two men standing very close to the roadway and "one of them had his pants down, exposing his buttocks as his vehicle drove by."

Don't hold your breath: A Dillonvale man said he received a "fraud alert" on his cell phone and when he clicked it, he was connected to a woman who claimed he was "under investigation for money laundering" and transferred his call to a man who told him his personal information had been compromised "and his bank was also under investigation." He was instructed to withdraw all his money, which amounted to $14,000, and said it would be reported to the treasury "and a cashier's check would be sent to him."
