STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County is ringing in the new year with a new bookmobile to serve the community.
The bookmobile is 20 feet long, handicap accessible and equipped with shelving for customers to step inside to borrow books and DVDs. It travels county roads to serve the homebound, residential areas and senior centers. It was purchased from Farber Specialty Vehicles in Columbus. It is housed at the Main Library.
Bookmobile service was established by the library in 1941. Currently, this outreach service operates three days a week, Wednesdays through Fridays. Plans call for new stops to be added to the schedule in the spring. To find out when the bookmobile will be in a community, visit the library’s website at steubenvillelibrary.org or pick up a schedule at any library branch.
