Weirton Medical Center is the recipient of the 2022 West Virginia Governor’s Award for outstanding support of tissue donation and cornea donation. Representatives from Donate Life West Virginia presented the award to hospitals in the state that have “embraced organ, tissue and cornea donation and transplantation as a priority, and who, by increasing the number of donors within their health care facilities, are proving they are leaders in donation.” Donate Life West Virginia is comprised of four federally designated not-for-profit organ procurement organizations that promote and coordinate the donation of organs and tissue for transplantation.
