NAMED: Ann Silverthorn has been appointed by the Jefferson County commissioners to the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County Board of Trustees. She will fill the unexpired board term of former trustee Stan Gaston, who served for eight years and died in July. Her term began in March and will run through December.

Silverthorn is the principal at Toronto Elementary School for Toronto City Schools. She has a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education. She says she is interested in connecting the school community with the library community and looks forward to being an active member in the community.

Eric Heaton is the newly hired driver for the library’s bookmobile service. Heaton will deliver books, DVDs, audiobooks and other library materials to the homebound, residential areas and senior citizen centers throughout Jefferson County.

He was employed by Borden Office Equipment Co. in Steubenville for 23 years, delivering office supplies to local businesses, and says he will enjoy being able to serve the community now through library services. “It will be a pleasure to continue working with the public in this new capacity. The library has many programs, services and resources of information to offer. I’m glad to be on board,” Heaton said.
