CADIZ — Woodsfield Savings Bank will soon open a new branch in the village of Cadiz.

Bank President and CEO Tracey E. Craig announced plans for the construction of a new branch office at the corner of West Market and South Muskingum streets. The full-service site will offer financial services for businesses and consumers, including deposit and lending services, drive-up teller lanes, an ATM, digital banking services as well as investment services through a partnership with financial advisers.

The branch office was designed by APG Architects of Zanesville. The new location represents an estimated $1.5 million to $2 million investment in the community and will employ five to seven full- and part-time positions. Construction on the facility started in March of 2022.

“We look forward to offering our personalized approach to banking in the area,” Craig said.

Mayor John Migliore said he is very pleased to see Woodsfield Savings Bank come to Cadiz.

“It’s nice to see a new business come here. They’re going to employ more people, which will help the overall situation, and I hope that they will be very successful here,” he said.

Nick Homrighausen, executive director of the Harrison County Community Improvement Corp., said that the new bank represents growth in the community.

“The Woodsfield Savings Bank construction is an investment in the community and the village of Cadiz. It opens up more financial opportunities for the community and local businesses and provides more opportunities for investments, loans and competitive rates,” he said.

Woodsfield Savings Bank was established in 1887 as Woodsfield Building and Loan. Over the years, the name has changed to Woodsfield Savings and Loan and then to the current name in 1995 — Woodsfield Savings Bank.

In addition to the main office in Woodsfield, in 2017 a branch was constructed and opened in downtown Barnesville. The bank employs more than 20 staff led by seven directors who live in the communities the institution serves.

Woodsfield Savings Bank currently has two locations, one in Woodsfield and one in Barnesville. The Woodsfield branch is located at 600 Lewisville Road and can be reached by calling (740) 472-1641. The Barnesville branch is located at 201 N. Chestnut St. and can be reached by calling (740) 425-3000.
